I realise this Q was probably asked elsewhere in the past on this forum, but im too lazy to look for it ! ......
Here goes: If youd been a writer for MASH, WOULD you have killed off Col.Blake ? If not, how would YOU have written his last appearance? :typing:
As much as I loved Henry Blake, I wouldn't have had it any other way. McLean Stevenson was leaving the series, anyway, so it opened a great and powerful opportunity to address the senseless cruelty of war - killing off a character that viewers had gotten to know and love in the last three years.

I agree. As sad as his death was, it showed that war takes anyone.

It makes me even sadder when I know that he's going to be killed and watching the previous episodes/scenes that deal with his personal life --
Ex. When he and the 'boys' were watching home movies of his daughter's birthday party, when Blake's son was born, and in OR he is talking about his practice back home.
Just some examples....
