Janice 07-10-2005, 06:37 PM Are you part of a blended family? Do you like your stepparent, stepsiblings or stepchildren? Is it working out?
I married a man 18 years my senior who has four adult children. His oldest son is only four years younger than me.
It's been a long haul, and I love my stepkids. The grandkids are an added bonus.
Still, I advise the young ones out there -- don't marry anyone with kids. It's a lot of work. The ex is a permanent part of your life. Your spouse has a financial and emotional commitment to his children. The kids usually hate your guts before they even meet you.
For the most part, it's a thankless deal.
If I had to do it over again....never mind. Not going there.
Brian 07-10-2005, 06:43 PM One of my aunts got divorced and married another man. He's cool. He used to serve in the Vietnam War and he's told me some stories of his experiences.
I don't think he counts as a stepfamily for me, though.
Penny Lane 07-10-2005, 07:33 PM My brother married a woman with 2 daughters who are total morons! And I'm not kidding! Well they are divorced now thank goodness. :D

I calls em as I sees em!
Mijada 07-10-2005, 07:48 PM I've dated guys in the past who had kids. I wouldn't advise anyone else to do it. It's more trouble than it's worth and I'm glad my husband to be has no kids/ex wives etc. We can both start a life together without any interferences. I never had a problem with the guys kids hating me or anything like that it was just that the ex wife/girlfriend was always in the picture and whenever the guy had a fight with her I always had to hear about it. Also the guys didn't want anymore kids than they already had and I wanted some of my own so that's why those relationships never went anywhere.
My dad remarried and I get along fine with his wife.
Mr. Stefani 07-10-2005, 08:05 PM ...i have my stepdad who i live with, and he has 3 kids that live in ct but come here a lot. we have known each other for awhile now so we all get along. I have no problem with my stepdad, he's a good guy, but we have our problems. but he's been more of a father to me than my real father has been so i'm thankful for that. my littlest stepsister is my favorite though, shes 8 now so i've known her since she was in diapers.
now my dad, he has a wife and kids but i dont consider them any kind of family so.
dawsongirl 07-10-2005, 10:50 PM My dad has a stepfather. That sounds so weird to me, because my grandma married him years before I was born, but that's technically how it is. None of them really like him. Heck, grandma is sick of him. My uncle (my dad's youngest brother) hates his guts to no end. My dad basically just tolerates him. I dunno about my other uncle; he didn't along with his real dad very well, not like my dad and uncle did. My cousin calls him grandpa but I don't. He's just my grandma's husband. I think he's a lazy bastard who reeks of pedophile.
He's got some grown kids somewhere who are just about the dumbest creatures on earth, beating out only the jellyfish and Kevin Federline.
PZelda 07-10-2005, 11:18 PM Yeah. My parents split up more than a decade ago when I was nearly done with 4th grade. By the summertime of that same year, my dad met a lady and fell in love with her. By the time autumn rolled around that year, they moved in together and almost exactly a year later, my dad remarried -- this time, to that lady who is now my stepmom. That was in early 1996, and they've been married nearly a decade now. When he remarried, my stepmom brought in 2 kids from her previous marriage, both girls.
I hated the first few years but I'm fine with it now. I have my share of crazy family/stepfamily members, but doesn't everybody? ;) I adore my steprelatives very much. :D
*MIBabe03* 07-11-2005, 10:43 AM Nope.
spunkygirl 07-11-2005, 05:24 PM I have a stepmom, and two step brothers and two stepsisters, whom I consider them like blood siblings, since our parents married when I was 5 :)

Same. Two of my stepdad's kids live in GA, and one lives in WA.
