View Full Version : Someone is about to die. WHY ARE MY FOLDERS CRASHING?!

Something is about to get smashed.

I have a folder that contains all of my images from Adobe Photoshop. Whenever I use the "Save for Web" option, and I click "save", the whole program crashes without warning.

To make it 10 times worse, when I click on the folder from my desktop, an error message comes up and the whole freaking folder crashes.

I have no idea how to fix it, and I really, REALLY need to save things into that folder and access files in there.

If you help me out, I swear you'll get a cookie.

Try running ScanDisk then defrag your machine. Do some maintenance before attempting to access your folders.

 I wish. My computer won't even scandisk for some reason.

Someone told me that it's not a software problem, but a motherboard problem and that I'd need to replace it. I don't have all that money!

And it just started out of the blue, anyway.

Oh, man... yeah, then it DOES sound like a motherboard problem. When did you get your computer? Check to see if you are still under warranty for them to replace it for free? :)

umm, this is a problem WITH Photoshop, Adobe has a patch for it in 7.0.1, just download it from here:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows

there are some RUMORS about the problem going away after reseting your save to web preferences, it wouldn't hurt to try, but you are better off getting the update.

Wait... What version of PhotoShop do you have, Kay Scarpetta? Robyrob is correct about the patches, but it also depends what version you have.

Ah thanks for the tips guys, my boyfriend fixed it  He's a computer genius. It was actually a registry problem. Strange.

Kay Scarpetta: Ah, those pesky registry things. Yep, yep, yep... glad to see your boyfriend knows his way around regedit. They can be explosive for anyone who doesn't know their way around!
