View Full Version : Who was your first celebrity crush?

I think that it is safe to say that every single person has had a crush on an actor or an actress. Who was the first celebrity you ever had a crush on?

For me it was Lila on Charles In Charge, played by April Lerman. When the show premiered in October of 1984 I was eight years old and I just fell in love with Lila.

I think I was... 6. I THINK. I'm not sure. But it was Bette Midler. HAH. Actually... it also could have been Yvonne DeCarlo. Or Carolyn Jones. I'm not quite sure who I liked first. But of course, at the time, I didn't know they were crushes.

Oddly enough, I was just wondering that same thing the other day, because she was on an episode of Boy Meets World I was watching.

Anyway...it was either Macauley Culkin (because I thought he looked like my crush or vice versa), Mark Paul Gosselaar, or John Stamos. The last two are still hot, but Mac...

I liked the usual teen stars of the day...David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Davy Jones, etc, but my first real crush was on Peter Duel, star of the TV western, Alias Smith & Jones. He was also on a TV series with Judy Carne....Love On A Rooftop. I just loved him, and was devastated when he died. I was only 12, and it really bothered me. I still have the newspaper clipping from when he died.

To this day, 35 years later, I'm saddened by his death. I read up on him on various websites. Apparently, I'm not the only one who is still interested in his life. He's sort of a legendary figure to many.

It was a terrible shame. Alcoholism did the poor guy in. He was only 31 when he died. It wasn't just a girlhood crush that passed. Maybe it would have been, had he lived. I'll never know that. I just know that I was in love with him, in my young mind. Those dimples, that twinkle in his eyes. Flipped me out when he died.

Hey - he WAS cute when he was younger! I'm older, and thought he was a real cutie - I don't know what happened when he "filled out" but yuck now!

And Jonathan Taylor Thomas was adorable! Around the time he did the voice for Simba in the Lion King? Had a been a pre-teen my walls would have been plastered with him! ;)

Janice - I REMEMBER him now! Yeah, he was stunning! Wow - 31 when he died eh? He must have had one helluva alcohol problem to take you out that young. :( That's sort of how I felt with Brad Davis. I loved him in Midnight Express and Roots and then was shocked to hear of him dying - it was enough getting over the fact he was gay and then he dies. :(

Peter Duel actually committed suicide (shot himself), but he struggled for years with alcoholism, and was drunk when he killed himself on New Year's Eve in 1970. :(

I'm confused by a few things. You said he was 31 when he killed himself. He was born in 1940 so that means he would have died in 1971, not 1970. So it was December 31, 1971. And you would've been 13, almost 14 at that time. Did I get any of that wrong?

I was more floored by the cute and subtle sexiness of Princess Leia from Star Wars to Empire. In Empire she looks so adorable like, the girl you wanted to be your girlfriend.

Then my second celebrity crush was Macaulay Calkin when Home Alone came out and I don't know why I liked him but he was funny. I also liked Jonathan Taylor Thomas because every girl liked him and I couldn't see what the big deal about JTT was but I guess the teens liked him. My mother also claimed I had a crush on Lorenzo Llamas which I just thought I just liked him but she claimed I loved him. I do remember very well because my mom and I were eating dinner once and I had Heroes And Icons on the TV and she wanted to see METV and suddenly Renegade came on and my mother told me "Oh my goodness Hawkee do we really have to see Renegade just because Lorenzo Llamas is your crush?" And I told Mom Lorenzo was not my crush and she teased me about it. I also liked David Spade too

I figured out that I'm not gay when I was either 3 or 4 years old thanks to Catherine Bach.

In order —

Without looking it up, I’m not sure.

Eventually.

No, no, and no. Although if it was Valerie Harper that’d be epic. It would mean I have some type of name fetish.

Her iconic red swimsuit poster sold six million copies in its first year in print.
I bet you had one on your bedroom wall or door

Eventually

She also was holding recurring roles on the sitcom Spin City (2001)

Hmmm .... what was her name?

I liked Patrick Dempsey too after my aunt claimed to like him in Grey's Anatomy and after I saw him in Disney's Enchanted I got into Grey's Anatomy myself and got some DVDs of the show and Patrick Dempsey is still my crush. But I started liking Jeremy Renner because my mother liked him first as Hawkeye and then I saw Hawkeye on Disney+ and liked Jeremy Renner even more because he looks so cute. But now Anson Mount is now my big crush now

I guess it's possible, but why would you be ashamed of having a crush on Farrah? Most of the world did.

Remember, opus admits to being an islander fan. That's mighty embarrassing in itself.

No, I never had girlie posters on my wall.

Farrah was on Spin City? I thought that was Heather Locklear.

But no, not Farrah.

Farrah played "Judge Claire Simmons," but I couldn't remember how many episodes she was in.

Yes it would be embarrassing to have a crush on "Lovey Howell."

Of course, there is always "Barbara Gorden" (Yvonne Craig)
also known as "BATGIRL"

Yes she was!

She also was the oldest cast member on the show!
The other cast members didn't even know how old she was.
Natalie Schafer had in her contract not to allow any close-ups of her why filming the show.

Thurston was quite the hotty too!
If you say so, as an older guy goes. wave:

{James Gilmore Backus (February 25, 1913 – July 3, 1989) }

My first celebrity crush was country singer Dwight Yoakam and I don't know what attracted me to Dwight but maybe I thought he was cute wearing his cowboy hat but even today Dwight Yoakam is still my crush. Then when Home Alone came out like Dawsongirl I also had a crush on Macaulay Culkin and thought he had great talent as a child star but I could never figure out why girls liked him. Then my mother claimed I had a crush on Lorenzo Llamas and I thought he was handsome but one time my mother and I were eating dinner in front of the TV and she wanted to watch METV and I had Heroes And Icons on and Renegade was about to start and she wanted to watch METV and I said i'd change the channel to METV but then she started teasing me and said "Oh My, Hawkee you really must like Lorenzo Llamas" and Mom had to watch an hour of Renegade before we finally switched to METV but it was real funny. I now like Vincent D'Onifrio Jeremy Renner and Ryan Reynolds and in singers I still adore Billy Joel

Is it Dolly Parton? I think you have given a few clues.

Mine is Elisabeth Shue in The Karate kid.
