View Full Version : This show wasn't very good (sorry folks) Mikado 07-06-2005, 09:35 PM . afijamesy2k 07-25-2005, 06:58 PM The fact that i actually watched this show is a good indication how bad TV sitcoms were becoming in the late 70s...they made this mediocre show look good! (thank gosh for M*A*S*H ) at least it's better than 98% percent of the reality show nonsense on tv since 1992 (Thanks a lot the real world) JeffRuss1972 07-25-2005, 11:16 PM Amen to that. I'll take ALICE over that garbage any day! Mr. Television 07-25-2005, 11:19 PM Alice was one of the best sitcoms ever. :woohoo: robyrob 07-25-2005, 11:24 PM to each their own - you have a right to an opinion, but it is usually considered in poor taste to go to a show's board just to trash it... Bonsai 07-31-2005, 11:24 AM When I was reading the other posts in this thread, I realized I was kind of a luke-warm fan of the show: I remember liking it and watching it quite a bit, but I would never have told someone I couldn't go somewhere because it was coming on. If it came on TVLand today I'd watch it, but I have no plans to buy the DVD if it comes out. But as you say, to each his/her own. I think it's great that Alice has a meeting place for its devoted fans. More power to you! I hope you're able to get your show released on DVD----it's a true fan's dream come true. :) Brian Damage 07-31-2005, 11:26 AM Alice was good...at least the Flo years. seventies_sitcoms 07-31-2005, 11:54 AM Alice was great show to watch if you were a kid growing up in the 70's and early 80's. I still think it is a good show today for kids to watch if you could find it. I always used to wish that I could have one of those big jelly donuts from under that case that sat on the countertop! :happyface True, the Flo years were best. Diane Ladd was a pretty good substitute, but it was rather unlucky that Linda Lavin chose to make working conditions bad and it made Ladd abandon the show. Jolene was annoying most of the time. Brian Damage 07-31-2005, 11:57 AM Jolene was the worst. Mikado 07-31-2005, 12:01 PM to each their own - you have a right to an opinion, but it is usually considered in poor taste to go to a show's board just to trash it... In hundreds of these boards, people trash this or that star on a show, how is this different? Anyway i didnt say it was horrible, just not very good , and it wasnt when compared to M*A*S*H, All in the Family, Happy Days, or I love Lucy, for example....basically it wasnt the worst sitcom or the best, just very middle of the pack, admittedly, it would probably fair pretty well, quality-wise compared to the crapcoms of today! Mikado 07-31-2005, 12:06 PM Jolene was the worst. Ironic, since Dianne Ladd created Flo in the movie, maybe they should have let her BE Flo, rather than create a new character, what do you think? Dr. Thong 07-31-2005, 02:35 PM Alice was good...at least the Flo years. I agree. It wasn't a bad show afterwards, but it wasn't the same, either. They should have kept the cast as it was, but the networks were spinoff-happy back then. As soon as any show became a hit, they looked to take it apart and populate empty spots in their schedules. robyrob 07-31-2005, 04:17 PM In hundreds of these boards, people trash this or that star on a show, how is this different? Don't go to another board to post only negative messages. Surely you can understand how going to the home for any given show and just saying its "no good" or "crap" is not going to ingratiate yourself to the fans of that show (or actor - I am still a little irked by your attacks on Tom Hanks and Bosom Buddies) and only serves to stir up trouble. If you have some legitimate point to make or a valid topic of discussion to start then fine, but simply stating that a show is "poor", "mediocre" or some other insult really isnt very constructive. You don't like the show, fine - i can understand that, but WHY don't you like it? Give me some reasoning behind your opinion rather than just a blatant putdown. I have never personally liked M.A.S.H. - I just found it too depressing and have never really liked Alan Alda or anything in a war setting. The difference is that I would never say that it is a bad show, its just not to my taste. Anyway, im all done talking about Alice, so, lets please drop it , thank you. Actually, for 3 weeks no one said anything, had the mods deleted it and said something, id have said sorry; I didnt know id done anything wrong and they could erase it, in fact they can erase this thread now if they like, it really makes no difference to me. Mikado 07-31-2005, 08:49 PM If i offended anyone ,I'm sorry....I guess i just dont think a TV show is that big a deal, its just a show, as far as i'm concerned, anyone has the right to give their opinions on Alice or Mash or w/e, whether they match mine or not . Anyway, I shant ever give another opinion on Alice . Jeek 08-03-2005, 11:52 AM at least it's better than 98% percent of the reality show nonsense on tv since 1992 (Thanks a lot the real world) It has nothing to do with the Real World. Survivor started all the "reality" bull****. Jeek 08-03-2005, 11:53 AM to each their own - you have a right to an opinion, but it is usually considered in poor taste to go to a show's board just to trash it... People shouldn't come to an "Alice" board to trash it. However, this isn't the official "Alice" board. Jeek 08-03-2005, 11:55 AM Alice was good...at least the Flo years. Flo's contribution to "Alice" was highly overrated. Look how long the show lasted without Flo. Jeek 08-03-2005, 11:56 AM it was rather unlucky that Linda Lavin chose to make working conditions bad and it made Ladd abandon the show. Source? Mr. Television 08-03-2005, 11:57 AM People shouldn't come to an "Alice" board to trash it. However, this isn't the official "Alice" board. It isn't? Jeek 08-03-2005, 12:00 PM It isn't? No, it isn't. An official board would be run by CBS and/or Warner Bros. television. A source tells me CBS is planning on launching message boards at their site for their most popular current shows and past shows, and a board on "Alice" is among them. This board here, while popular, was put together by a webmaster who just happened to be a sitcom fan. It isn't official by any means. Mr. Television 08-03-2005, 12:14 PM No, it isn't. It is however rude to bash a show on that show's board just for that purpose and is against the rules. Plus when it has been done in the past, it has led to fights. That would be good if CBS is going to do that. ABC used to have message boards up but they took them down. jeffersonsfan 10-27-2005, 07:53 PM Oh, so Alice wasn't any good, huh? That's why it ONLY ran 9 years and was in the top 10 for most of its run. I think MANY people liked it. :talk: :talk: :talk: tv star collector 10-28-2005, 08:52 AM yes, people are constantly trashing actors and shows, and it is generally ignored - up to a point, at least until someone complains about it. however if you look at Sitcom's Online's rules it states pretty clearly that you should NOT go to a show's board just to trash it. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/announcement.php?f=27 Surely you can understand how going to the home for any given show and just saying its "no good" or "crap" is not going to ingratiate yourself to the fans of that show (or actor - I am still a little irked by your attacks on Tom Hanks and Bosom Buddies) and only serves to stir up trouble. The difference is that I would never say that it is a bad show, its just not to my taste. I only saw part of one episode of M*A*S*H (at my uncle's house), but it didn't make much of an impression. Personally, I thought it was overrated. Of course, I may have stumbled on a mediocre episode. Anyway, every one has his/her own taste. It would be a dull world if we were all alike. |
