An article I read while searching for something else says that George Gaynes was a drunkard and a wife beater...read down towards the middle of the article...I still don't believe this is true.

It seems a little dubious especially as he says "plays the part in real life" as it confuses. I can't say for sure though.

George Gaynes' wife actually starred as his love interest in the Season1 two-parter "Henry Falls In Love". His old sweetheart is actually his wife in real life!

Ya know I'm having my doubts about that article as well. He and his wife have been married a little over 50 years and to me there is no signs of abuse. I know sometimes its hard to tell but you'd think it would be mentioned in other articles as well. In any event lets just hope it isn't true. Yeah, I knew that was his wife on that episode and also on the pilot episode playing an attorney. How neat! :)

I don't think it's true.

I doubt it, too, otherwise David W. Duclon (the creator and executive producer) would not have cast him as Henry Warnimont.

I don't think it's true either.

Nah, that can't be true. His wife was on the show and they have been married since 1953 and he has 2 children. That's 56 years of marrage.
