Here's a few channels that may be added to Canadian cable/satellite this Fall. Not sure where these channels will be placed, or which cable/satellite companies will carry them. A few need to be licensed first by the CRTC, but are expected to launch soon.

CGTV Canada (Gambling Channel)
Video Italia Canada (Italian Movies)
Bloomberg TV (Business television--I think)
SkyNews International (News Channel from England)
EuroSport 1 & 2 (Sports from Europe)
IsraTV (Israel)
Univision (Spanish TV)
CCTV (Chinese Television)
Leonardo World
Out TV (???)
BITE Television
The Pet Network
*Teletoon Detour (Delayed, but may be launched in January 2006)
*Teletoon Retro (Delayed, but may be launched in January 2006)
Mystère (French language Mystery Channel- Yeah we could really use one!)
EWTN (Another women's channel)
Salt & Light (Catholic Channel)

* Teletoon Detour will be an adult cartoon channel, and **Teletoon Retro will be a classic cartoon channel--Much like Boomerang in the U.S.

EWTN (Another women's channel)

EWTN is the Eternal Word Television Network is a worldwide Catholic cable/satellite network that provides Catholic programming 24 hours a day into nations that are predominantely Catholic.

EWTN broadcasts in the U.S.

EWTN's home page is here
http://www.ewtn.com

EWTN also has a Catholic radio network and is also available on various radio stations and on cable and/or satellite.

I'd love to get Boomerang on my cable but I have Boomerang on Demand. :)

I see. I guess EWTN will go well with Salt & Light TV (http://www.saltandlighttv.org/) then. :)

I doubt we get anything new. Or if we do, it'll be stupid.

Well, vash, if I wanted SOAPnet that bad, I could just move a few miles over to my left and over the parish line, where they have it on basic cable (and where I watched it when I was in the hospital last year).

I wonder how long it will actually take until we get it, though! They usually add channels in December, so we'll see how things go this year...

I don't live in Canada, but I would love to get the Game Show Network added to our lineup.

Not sure yet, they did just recently add some On Demand Channels, so they probably won't add anything new till the end of the year if then ;)

Badger them, that's what I had to do, I sent them emails everyday and had everyone I know with a computer send them emails as well. About a year later they added it to our line up :)

Jenya, Video Italia is a music station, not a movie station, sort of like an Italian MTV, which, despite being Italian myself, I have no interest in.

But I would like to see Teletoon Retro. That wouldn't be too bad!

Just had VH1 MegaHits (mostly 1990s and 2000s videos) replaced with BET Jazz on my digital cable system... that kinda sucked...

Go to GSN's home page here (http://www.gsn.com) and go to the bottom of the page where a link says 'get gsn', click on that and a form is provided so you can fill out the information and letting the network contact your cable company to carry GSN. If enough people do that, the response would be so overwhelming!!

I've had GSN 3-1/2 years and I still enjoy it even though I wished it still was all classics, though. :)

Turner Classic Movies.....

You'll love Turner Classic Movies (TCM) if you really want to enjoy a true movie-going experience right in your own home! And no commercials!!

Their "Now Playing" guide is not too bad, either.

TCM website
http://www.turnerclassicmovies.com

You also can order their program guide online, by mail or by phone. :)

They have rare, awsome film shorts no one airs on television, anywhere quite often!!! If you live in Canada, I'd call to find out if the guide's available for Canadian viewers.

Me too.

I got it back in December 2000 and it was the *****! Every morning before school I'd watch "Hot Potato" and every night I'd watch "Family Feud" followed by "Match Game" and then on weekends they'd air all kinds of good stuff. I wish sssssssssoooooooooo much that they'd bring back "TattleTales" and "The Joker's Wild"....

Usually my cable company doesn't add channels until jan and I thought Logo was a channel on my cable company but my cable company just dropped that number all together.

Logo is a new cable channel geared to the gay and lesbian audiences which signed on not too long ago.

Logo Television's website is here:

Yes I know what the Logo channel is and I am not disappointed that my cable company decided not to have it on. Now maybe they can add something better on that number sometime in the future. I wouldn't mind having soapnet.

Well, over the past year, DirecTV has added several new channels.

The only two channels I'm glad they added were TVOne and Lifetime Real Women.

They also added Fox Reality Channel and Logo. (UGH to those two; I have no idea why they were added, what a waste of space)

I'm patiently waiting for them to add GoodLife/AmericaLife. If they add that, I'll be set, LOL.

ESPNEWS as well as 8 HD Channels [ESPNHD, ESPN2HD, Discovery HD Theater, Starz HD, Showtime HD, HDNet, HDNet Movies, Universal HD] were added on June 15.

Prior to that, the last addition was in JANUARY 2004, when channels were added like there was no tomorrow -

ShopNBC, PAX National Feed, Fuse, Telemundo, AmericanLife, National Geographic, RFD-TV, Noggin/The N, Nicktoons, Nick GAS, Wisdom, Trio, Biography, History International, The International Channel [now AZNTV], TechTV (now part of G4), G4, VH1 Classic, MTV2, MTV Hits, and BET Jazz were added within the span of a month.

You know.....please don't throw things at me....but DED's grown on me. It's interesting at sometimes, but they rerun the same episodes over and over and over and over again and gets annoying!

The only time I'm watching GSN nowadays is several shows in the morning lineup (definitely P+! I forgot how much I loved it!) and I make it a point to watch the celebrity episodes of FF on Saturday nights. Back then, whenever they threw "Celebrity" in front of something....there were actual celebrities playing. Not people like "the guy who played waiter number 2 in that movie from 1985"...

A friend tried to get me into DED, but I just can't watch more than a couple of the shows. I think I'm hooked on Win Ben Stein's Money too much!
I miss the old Match Game and the original Whammy from the 80s (I still laugh at the animated Michael Jackson running across the screen). And of course, the OLD Dating Game, Newlywed Game and Matchgame.

Old "Match Game" comes on daily, as does "The Newlywed Game." I think "Press Your Luck" comes on weekends too.

Here in Canada, we have a couple of digital channels that I think are similar to TCM in that they show classic movies and cartoons from the 30s to the 60s.

One is called Silver Screen Classics:

The other is named Moviola:

Not bad, eh? Who needs Ted Turner anyway?
