Album Description
We at 'Collectors’ Choice Music' are known (we hope!) for our tasteful reissues of artists both legendary and neglected, but once in a while we like to throw our customers a curveball (or, more appropriately in this instance, a screwball) just for the fun of it. And this one’s a whole lot of fun—here is Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams’ 1976 album for Atlantic, made when their 'Happy Days' spinoff sitcom 'Laverne and Shirley' was at the top of the Nielsen charts and giving Milwaukee a boost of civic pride it hasn’t had since! Here’s a few fun facts about this album—though it consists mostly of oldies, Michael McKean a.k.a. Lenny chips in with a song ('Five Years On') and serves as musical coordinator. The band, meanwhile, is incredible, with Hal Blaine on drums, Plas Johnson on tenor sax and Jimmie Haskell (who arranged Elvis) arranging. Melissa Manchester helps out the vocally-challenged duo—and, hey, that’s Kenny Loggins on tambourine! You know these sessions! must have been a gas, and the album is, too, so grab your Boo-Boo Kitty, mix up a couple of Pepsi and milk cocktails, and rock to 'Da Doo Ron Ron; Five Years On; Easier Said Than Done; All I Have to Do Is Dream; I Know; Chapel of Love; Sixteen Reasons; Gonna Get Along Without You Now; Graduation Day; More from Our Yearbook; Oh Gee', and 'I’m Walkin’'. A 'Collectors’ Choice Music' exclusive, with new notes drawn from an interview with producer Pete Bennett!
