I feel your pain wolf11. I got burned by scammer Andy Turpa and the best remedy is to tell the board about this person.

This infamous bad trader is already listed on our Bad Traders List (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=114765&perpage=15&pagenumber=1).

I know, I know... it's hard to read, but we're working on a better system.

Agent 13:

I have some free time coming to me...I might just compile a full listing of the known scammers and setup a page for it this weekend. There is no reason why individuals ought to be scammed in our hobby.

Kalmec,

That would be wonderful. We've been hoping to borrow some of your ideas. :D

Well...my suggestion would be to put up a web page with a full listing and leave it atop this forum as a sticky. I have some extra webspace, so I can likely pull something together soon :)

The only real way to adequately maintain such a large group is to:

1) identify who is on it

2) A method to remove scammers

3) leave a posting for all users to post warning of scammers they have encountered.

By "scammer" I refer to those that take payment or trade a give nothing in return. Simple as that.

Over the past 3 months, I took over a French trading group that I was using for 7 years (3778 users! France, Belgium, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy) I ended up booting almost 300 users that were scamming people, ripping retail sets and selling on Ebay etc. Let me just say it was more than a bit of work for a group of 4 to handle. It is impossible to check each and every individual on a group of that size. The only way to adequately run it, is to let users keep in contact with each other.

Probably one of the main reasons traders get burned is because they get overanxious. It is hard to WAIT, especially in the beginning of trading.

Most of the time these bad experiences can be prevented. The top bad traders target newbies over and over and over again.

Until you get up a large enough collection to where you attract enough traders to WANT to trade with you, do thorough checks via search engines and google. If you can't find something on the person, post a trader check on trading sites. It is practically a guarantee that those that will get upset over your posting a trader check have something to hide.

I've never been burnt on a trade in my life (I hope I didn't speak too soon...LOL). The only reason I haven't been burnt on a trade is because of this board. This forum has helped me so much along with the former moderator (Jen). :)

I hope no one has forgotten about that big time scammer Richard Johnson. I recently found out a new email he has that I can post here if I can and he goes by names like Joe, and Patricia Johnson. He is still out there ripping people off.

Sorry to hear about everyone's problems with bad traders. I've been trading on and off for about five years myself, and I've only been burned twice, and that's out of probably a few hundred trades.

In the first instance, I sent someone a video and never received anything in return. Pretty simple.

In the second instance, I had been dealing with this guy for several months. We had probably done three or four successful trades. But, he was a goofball, and very overzealous. He probably emailed me about fifteen times a day, no kidding. The last package I sent him contained about ten tapes or so. He probably owed me the same. I never received anything from him, and no answers to my repeated emails. It sucked not getting my tapes, but I was also kind of glad that he wasn't emailing me anymore, so it was a small price to pay. As I said, he emailed me A LOT. He was a weird dude.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
