Okay, I am having a problem with my neighbors tree blocking my Sat signal to my local channels and some of my other features (Directtv) and the landlord at the neighbors house REFUSES to let the tree be trimmed and I could use some advice (in the fall and winter it's not a problem, no leaves so the signal is fine).

The Landlord over there has a reputation of being a world class ******* (I have heard from others that dealt with him, that he likes to be dick just to be a dick) and seems to be enjoying the fact that his property is screwing with something I am paying $80 a month for.

My question is, is there a legal way I can force him to trim (and keep trimmed) the offending tree?

Oh and I already had Directtv out here and the dish can't be moved.

well truley its not his problem.if you are paying for it,i would call dish or direct and tell them that (if)when they installed it tyhere was no leaves on the tree,and tell them they need to come out and reset it.they will because that happens all the time,if not tell them u will go to another dish like if u got dish tell them u will go to direct and i bet they will be out that week to fix it..

Dish Network will come out and adjust the dish, should any sort of interference occur. Dunno about Directv: I'd call them up and ask. Details should be in the contract you signed when you got it.

No, they came out, but the dish can't be moved anywhere where the signal will hit it (the only other place has a house blocking it).

ok here is what u do buy a can of gas and a lighter.....oops i mean.....if its hanging over your property dont they have to trim it?

hi, there must be another location. i would discuss this in detail with direct tv. if you threaten to change to cable or some other service, they will probably bend over backwards to assist in this problem. i would also see about them sending out different service personnel than was sent before. some satellite technicians know more than others (ie more years experience etc). i have seen satellite dishes setup in all types of settings in our area. did they look at some type of roof mount on top of your house? the direct tv technician should have throughly evaluated the situation and discovered that this might be a problem. i think you should be in serious contact with direct tv and the installer. also, you may have to go to your homeowners association if you live in that type of community or board of alderman or supervisors to see what can be done. also, if the tree has any kind of blockage of power lines etc then the utility company can see about the tree being trimmed. hope some of this info helps and hope you get your situation worked out. a-hole neighbors can be a pain if they want assist in such situations. maybe one day you can repay this situation. you know what they say about paybacks! again, hope you get this resolved. thaks

maybe its time to invite the cable snake back into the house

i would ask if its possible to go up on a roof mast, or even the old suction cups on the second floor window trick, but im sure you would have looked into those possibites

i had a second floor apartment--years ago, and did the suction cups on the glass trick, it worked well until my girl opened the bedroom window one spring day

maybe even a short post and put the dish right at the base of the tree, and get under the leaves

i would do about anything to not have cable, i have had just a nightmare with service and quality

when i moved out of the city last year to a small town, i tried high def cable, that was far less quality than standard direct tv

I've seen 15 foot high antennas, so there should be some sort of extender to get the dish up past the trees.

Positioning the dish is another story.
