View Full Version : Had RHODA been given a proper finale
drew8804 06-30-2005, 03:36 AM Sadly Rhoda was canceled by the CBS, but had RHODA gotten the chance to have a real finale, how do you think it would have ended or at least should have ended. The hard part of coming up with ideas is making Rhoda the main plot. Take Brenda getting married. if the Finale consisted of Brenda getting married, how would work Rhoda in. One way would be to show Brenda thanking Rhoda for moving back to New York and have learned much about life from her and so on. Another possible ending would be Jacks Costume shop go out of business and Rhoda deciding to make another big change in her life. Say maybe moving back to Minneapolis, oh and a cool last line could be Manhattan, that was ur last chance. Another way to end the show would be reconcilation/marriage for Rhoda. the First thought being Joe returning and them getting back together, that would probably be huge for the show. Or if the RHODA had gotten the chance to go on for a few more season bring another man back into her life. I think it would be interesting to see Rhoda go though all the changes. First meeting Joe and then getting married, then going through divorce and being single again and then meeting another great guy and ending the show with Rhoda getting married again (and possibly still have Joe return to in a scene like the Golden Girls finale with Stan). These are just my thoughts for a real finale. What does everyone else think, any other ideas?

The Finale should have been Rhoda getting Married, not the 7th episode of season 1-LOL It was all down hill from there
zevonsky72 01-24-2006, 09:22 PM Here's an idea for the final episode...
Brenda and Benny finally get married, and Benny breaks the news that he's starting a roller derby league.
Rhoda falls in love with the accordion player at the wedding., who happens to be Nick Lobo's handsome and successful brother, Dick. Rhoda's new flame plays weddings for fun when he isn't in court as a powerful attorney.
Ida and Martin are so inspried, they decide to renew their vows right on the spot, and make up for their recent separation by moving to Florida. Ida decides to keep busy by finding a job in a diner, using paper towels to clean after her sloppy but lovable patrons.
Carlton drops in (literally!) for the ceremony, but we can only see his back as he lies on the floor.
Joe accidentally got an invitation to see the wedding, and once he sees Rhoda he realizes he wants to be married again after all. Only problem is, he's got to compete with Dick Lobo for her affections.
Mary drops in from Minneapolis, while Phyllis flies in from San Francisco. Only problem is, Phyllis forgot her promise to meet and pick up Lou after his flight in from Los Angeles (where he's found a new job at a newspaper). Lou phones in, harangues Phyllis, and then listens to the ceremony over the phone. Don't worry, he stops by for drinks at the reception, where both he and Joe comiserate over their lost loves (Mary and Rhoda, respectively).

James28 09-19-2007, 11:34 AM If the 5th season were extended to a full season, it would have had 8-10 more episodes. And the theme song shouldn't have gotten that "drastic overhaul".

I agree...they should've had Rhoda and Joe date throughout the series, and then end it with an engagement and wedding.
Mikado 11-25-2007, 08:28 PM I think Rhoda getting back with Joe wouldnt have worked.....the whole divorce thing made her marriage look like a big mistake; so why would they repeat it? I DO love that one idea that Drew had: Rhoda deciding to make another big change in her life. Say maybe moving back to Minneapolis, oh and a cool last line could be "Manhattan, that was your last chance."
Works for me!!!
catlover79 11-25-2007, 09:48 PM ^ I like that last line, Mikey.
Mikado 11-26-2007, 01:22 AM I didnt come up with it....the creator of the thread did...I was just agreeing that it would have been the perfect way to end the series! :) *
*I dont take credit for things that others came up with
McGillicuddy 02-09-2009, 12:25 PM I Love Zevonsky's storyline. Why couldn't you have been a writer of the show? (Ida working in a diner and Phyllis forgetting to pick up Lou! Too Funny!)
ThomasE 02-09-2009, 01:38 PM I don't think that I could stand another Phyllis mistake in picking up with somebody. LOL.
