What, all that insight from Bad Girls author Alex McAulay last week wasn't enough for you? Did you not read about him wanting to see Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff together onscreen?
I think that would be fantastic! The energy those two could create would be really magnetic onscreen.
And that's the non-pornographic way of saying it.
But if you can't get enough Bad Girls action, hear this: We're told it's likely screenwriting duo Max Enscoe & Annie deYoung will be penning the script for the movie. Of course, we'll keep you updated with new developments, but in the meantime you can spend a minute exploring their (limited) IMDB entries.
With all this hoopla over who might star in the film adaptation of Alex McAulay's Bad Girls (Hint: Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, in case you haven't been religiously reading this website), we decided to go straight to the source to get some hard answers. Well, by "source" we mean the book's source - Alex McAulay himself - and ya'll know how much the writers actually play in part in film production.
But he gave us some insight as to what MTV Films might be working on, so tune in ya'll.
On Hilary Duff:
Yes, it's true that in the novel she gets mentioned, although what actually happens is that one of the girls says of the main character, as a backhanded compliment, "She looks like Hilary Duff, but not as pretty..." I suppose in some strange way I did envision Hilary Duff in the role as I was writing it, but this was long before MTV got involved. I just thought it would be great to see Hilary play a different kind of role.
I think she could be a huge star. I think she's actually a great actress, but a lot of her potential seems wasted. Instead of doing things like The Perfect Man (or whatever her latest film is called) she could be doing some really cool movies. She should look at Kate Winslet's career, methinks (but what do I know??) as an example of how to do really cool, unusual (yet profitable) films and still use her strengths as an actress.
I guess that's my vote--that she do slightly unconventional, more edgy things (just like Bad Girls, wink wink)
We're gonna make you click after the jump for what he thinks about Lindsay Lohan, because afterall, she's the sex in this story.
Hilary Duff & Lindsay Lohan
On Lindsay Lohan:
I would love to see Hilary and Lindsay in Bad Girls together. I think that would be fantastic! The energy those two could create would be really magnetic onscreen. I suspect they're actually insanely similar personality types, which is why they had their feud, or spat or whatever (hasn't that whole thing blown over yet?) The differences seem primarily superficial in a PR kind of way (like the way the Stones were hyped in relation to the Beatles).
Lindsay is a great actress, too. Nothing but praise for her in Mean Girls. I think I'll skip Herbie, though, being about 20,000 years too old for that movie's target demographic.
The drastic change in Lindsay's looks is puzzling, but seems to provide endless tabloid fodder, which may be the point. Like the rest of America, I just hope she goes back to how she used to look--healthy!
Still, she is very talented. I hope she ends up having a great Drew Barrymore or Winona Ryder (pre-shoplifting and Adam Sandler movies) type career.
And otherwise:
In the book Bad Girls, there's a semi-sadistic camp guard named Adler, who takes the girls into the woods on a hike. When I wrote the book, I had Henry Rollins in mind for this part. Henry Rollins should play Adler. Rollins rollins rollins! In conclusion, I think the film version of Bad Girls will definitely get made. I know screenwriters have been hired (though I don't know their names, believe it or not). And I can only hope that Hilary and/or Lindsay will be in it!
