View Full Version : How many of you would let David move in with your daughter?
GeorgiaboyJeff! 06-29-2005, 09:52 PM I thought the ep was pretty weird, I mean how many parents would actually let their daughter's boyfriend stay in the same house as her & they're still in high school. I mean that's just asking for grandchildren haha! I mean I understand David didn't have a good mom but I'm just curious at the responses!
TheLandfordLunchBox 07-01-2005, 12:35 AM I wouldn't I really didn't like the character David.
Brad Russ 07-02-2005, 07:56 AM I wouldn't let any guy move in with my daughter unless they were married. And even then, I'd first have to approve of the guy.

Yeah David was a little Special-LOL
coffield3 01-04-2007, 02:01 AM i think the reason why they let him stay was because he had respect for them,he wasnt mark.plus if he was to of gone live with his mom he wouldnt of seen darlene again so maybe that was good of roseanne.
Me personally if the guy was david i would let him stay but id have rules thou!!!
gidgetgrape 01-04-2007, 04:10 AM I felt bad for him, but moving your daughter's boyfriend into your house is a super bad idea. I could have understood him maybe sleeping on their couch a few nights until they found a more suitable place for him to live, like a foster home. Maybe Jackie should have taken him in instead.
Will and Grace Fanatic 01-04-2007, 01:58 PM It depends on the situation and in David's situation yes I would let him move in because his mom was verbally abusive. I however would not let him stay in the same room.
JulieSomoski 01-04-2007, 04:26 PM They weren't in the same room. Darlene had her room upstairs, and David was in the basement. Plus, that was only for half of season 5. ONce season 6 rolled along, Darlene went off to college, so they weren't living together anymore.
I personally think the writers made David move in to take the place of Darlene when she went of to college.

So you'd let your daughter marry a guy without living with him? What if he keeps weird stuff in his house? :o
An 80s Guy 01-11-2007, 05:48 PM I never would do that.
Ireneparalegal 01-11-2007, 06:44 PM The really weird thing is, how could a mother just ABANDON HER SON the way David's mother did? Sick lady.
JuicyCoutureGirl 01-12-2007, 12:04 AM Hell to the no I wouldn't let my daughter have her boyfriend move in. That's asking for trouble.
coffield3 01-12-2007, 05:26 PM Yes but its the situation dear!!! lets think of the episode where rosey witnesses his mother giving mental abuse to him like that....
Bundy 01-12-2007, 11:08 PM Where was his father? Why couldn't he stay with him?
Heist81 01-13-2007, 03:14 AM David's parents got divorced and his Father took the other 2 kids and went somewhere else, I can't remember where they said he went.

How can I forget thay episode? I remember feeling bad for David, to the point I almost cried. It hit too close to home. Thanks for bringing that up!

Didnt mean to upset you i was just making a point sorry.

Not only mental but physical. She slapped David right in front of Roseanne. If she did that in front of someone she doesn't know, imagine what she did to her kids when NO ONE WAS AROUND. I know that some stations edited that scene out...I don't know why. Some stations also edited what Rosie said..."People who live in GLASS WHOREHOUSES shouldn't throw stones."
Brieannas21 01-21-2007, 09:20 PM There's no way in the world I would let my daughter’s boyfriend come live in my house. I know that David’s mother was crazy, but I would have tried to find a relative or a close family friend of David’s who he could have gone to live with.
A teenage boy and a teen girl in my house, living together...I think not.
catlover79 02-20-2007, 11:35 PM I say no. I always thought David was creepy anyway...
Overdose 03-28-2007, 05:20 AM On the surface it seems like a bad idea and it most likely would be. But we must remember that Roseanne did this because of the personalities of both Darlene and David. Darlene wouldn't do anything she didn't want to do and David is a nice, gentle guy who would be more of a help than anything around the house.
Roseanne and Dan knew Darlene wasn't going to have sex until she was ready. Remember the episode where David stays the entire night when the power was shut off?
Honestly, they were in separate parts of the house and knowing the situation David was in and how much foster homes suck, I would have done it in a heartbeat.
