I forgot what it was called but I caught it in the middle of it. It dealt with Lucy&Ricky & it was in color! It seemed like they were on a trip. I couldn't really watch all of it or stay focused because my mom had me cleaning that day! It was interesting to watch.. I remember a scene where Ricky&Lucy were on the road & Lucy wsa begging Ricky to drive, so Ricky finally gave in. Ricky was scared of Lucy's driving skills! That was funny! Does anyone know what I'm talking about??

I do. It's not related to I Love Lucy, though Dezi and Lucy play very similar characters. It's called The Long, Long Trailer and was made in 1954. I didn't see the entire thing, but remember being fairly entertained by what I saw.

Oh, I love The Long, Long Trailer (1954). I wish it were on DVD. Desi and Lucy also did a movie together called Forever, Darling (1956) but I don't like it as much as The Long, Long Trailer. The studio execs thought it would be a flop because they didn't think Lucy fans would pay to see her in a film when they could watch her for free on their TVs at home. They were wrong, of course.

and, it wasn't made by Desilu Studios (where ILL was filmed); it was made by MGM. Even though they didn't play Lucy & Rickie; there names-Micky & Stacy-sound like Lucy & Rickie if you say them fast.

I've seen it on TV. It's OK; not great though.

Yeah, they were wrong alright. "The Long, Long Trailer" was MGM's top-grossing film ever up to that time.

Not to be picky but Desi is not spelled with a z. ;)

I love the Long, Long Trailer. The scene where Lucy is trying to cook dinner while the trailer is moving is so funny!

...there WAS an "I LOVE LUCY" feature film prepared for theatrical release. It consisted of several TV episodes linked together with new scenes filmed especially for this "movie". It was scheduled for release in 1952-'53 (through United Artists), but was "shelved". Someone, somewhere, saved a print of this unreleased film, and it'll be on DVD eventually. When, I don't know.

I DO know that, in 1954, there were five theatrical "SUPERMAN" movies that were re-edited from various 1953-'54 TV episodes starring George Reeves and company, which featured new footage that "tied" those TV episodes together into five "features", and released on a limited distribution basis through 20th Century-Fox. Wonder when THOSE will show up on DVD???

. . . for Lucy's Birthday Celebration in August in Jamestown, film editor Dann Cohn is suppose to be screening the I Love Lucy Movie. For this I may go to Jamestown just to see this. I wanted to go to meet one of the writers of Lucy, but tickets are $100 apiece, too much for me to do that. That's sad :(

TLL Trailer is a wonderful movie and I have it on VHS and on DVD (the set which includes Too Many Girls and Forever Darling). Lucy's name in the movie, however, is TACY, and not Stacy. She is named after her Aunt Anastasia and it you listen carefully the name she goes by doesn't have an S at the beginning. It took me a few times listening to get it (either that or Desi is dropping his S's- and so are the other actors in the cast!) ;)

NOOOOOO! The movie with Dan Cahn is only 20 dollars. I have already ordered my tickets. The 100 dollar event is Bob Schiller (one of the ILL writers). I can not see him as I have to leave the event at noon on Saturday. I will, however, be taking the bus tour, the boat tour (hosted by Lucy's chauffeur),and will be going to the fan reunion and the improv (all on Friday) and on Saturday morning will see the Dan Cahn hosted ILL lost movie. Lots of other things going on too that I will see, including the museum and playhouse. I am sooooo excited! I got a room at the Holiday Inn in downtown Jamestown which was in a block reserved for Lucy fans, and will be within walking distance of most of what is happening. I can't wait!!:happyface

Oops, sorry at misreading your message- you are right that the writer's event is 100 dollars- I thought you meant Dann Cahn's event was 100 dollars.

It's hilarious watching Lucy trying to prepare dinner in the moving trailer and she winds up with that big salad bowl on her head.

The kicker is when she wakes up out of a sound sleep, blown out the trailer door into the mud. Desi: "What's the matter, honey, can't you sleep?"

In season 5, disc 4 of I Love Lucy, if you go to the Bonus Features section under Flubs, you'll see the second item entitled 'Dezi with a Z?' in which the mistake's found in many syndication copies to local stations but not in the season 5 DVD of I Love Lucy.

I don't think it's on DVD yet.

To answer your questions, it's yes it has been released to DVD about a year ago (May 2006) to coincide the release of season 6 of I Love Lucy entitled The Lucy-Desi Collection that contains:

Too Many Girls (1940) B/W (Lucy & Desi's first movie) and also they were married that same year. Film was released by RKO Radio Pictures.
The Long, Long Trailer (1954) (MGM)
Forever Darling (1956) (MGM)

Plus bonus features and extras.

It was released in 1953 but later it was shelved and the film was considered lost. The good news is hopefully the film will be released to DVD in time for the Christmas holidays later this year. Nothing's official yet.

I read there was a screening in 2001 in Bakersfield, California and it was a success. More here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445461/trivia).

oh, yea, I think I read something about that ILL movie. Wasn't it just 3 or 4 episodes strung together?
