View Full Version : Is the movie High School USA good?
Classicshowsgurl15 06-28-2005, 03:50 PM I have never seen it and I want to see it really bad. It says it is not rated so does that mean that it is not something that I should see or what. I hope that it is not really bad. If anybody has seen it can you tell me about it?
Thanks,
Jennifer

I have the movie and no it's not bad at all. I really like the movie. Nancy always said that those movies that she did from her time off from FOL was cheesy.
JDS84 06-28-2005, 06:44 PM There are several teen stars in the movie Michael J Fox, Nancy McKeon, Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, Crystal Bernard, Cathy Silvers, and Lauri Hendler. It also features some actors from the 50's and 60's Bob Denver and Tony Dow. Anthony Edwards from ER has a role in the movie he plays Nancy McKeon's Boyfriend. Here is the plot line. It's about a boy JJ Manners (Fox) who likes Beth (McKeon) but she is dating the King of the highschool (Edwards). Anthony Edwards character and his friends really give JJ a hard time. It is up to the underdogs of the school to prove that Kings really don't belong in highscool. There is even a drag race toward the end of the movie.

You mean Nancy McKeon herself that HSUSA, which she starred in, was cheesy? I thought it was good.

Yeah Nancy did say that in her Intimate Portrait.
JethroSimpson 07-01-2005, 06:22 PM I thought it was ok if you just take it in a light context- don't look for anything too deep and meaningful or expenisve looking. But it workds as a fun 80's high school movie with a good 80's sitcom cast.
Classicshowsgurl15 07-01-2005, 06:45 PM Ok thanks. I will have to get it.
Classicshowsgurl15 07-30-2005, 07:07 PM Does it have alot of bad language in it.
Classicshowsgurl15 07-30-2005, 07:10 PM Would it be inappropriate for a 14 year old to see? I am 14.

No it doesn't. If memory serves me right there is not a dirty word throughout the whole movie. No it isn't inappropriate for a 14 year old to watch.
Warm & Fuzzy 08-02-2005, 05:59 PM I think I watched the movie when I was 14. I have it on tape, too. I don't think there's anything inappropriate in it, either. So, you're safe. :)
I agree with Nancy, tho, I DO think it's a bit cheesy... but it's okay.
80s_Fan 08-02-2005, 06:13 PM I like this movie and have it on vhs but plan on getting it on dvd if available.

It is only $6.99 at amazon. My mom ordered it this past weekend for me. I can't wait to get it. She also ordered Midnight Madness.
MrMike898 08-05-2005, 08:25 AM Since it was Made For TV, it is only as inappropriate as any of the sitcoms that aired in 1983. But, since it was a television movie, it is technically Not Rated. Universal/Hearst Entertainment and The Film Advisory Board classified it as Suitable For All Ages for it's current DVD release.
Classicshowsgurl15 08-07-2005, 06:31 PM I just got it on Friday and I liked it. It was a little to clean though in some ways. I liked it though.
