Now, I know a bunch of you grew up having a big crush on one of the actresses/characters from "Little House"! Mine was Caroline (Karen Grassle), hands down. Sure, she was a lot older than me but that's why I liked her so. She was just so kind, so pretty, so loving. I used to watch the show and say to myself, "One of these days, I'm going to marry her." It's twenty-five years later and I'm still waiting! Hehe.

Share your similar "Little House" crushes here!

For me, it was Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary). I thought she was a very pretty
teenager, and when I saw her many years later in the TV-movie "The Return of Sam McCloud," she was a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, in that film her
character was killed off in the first few minutes! Why? Didn't they have any
confidence in her acting ability? No offense to Melissa Gilbert (who, as we all
know, is an excellent actress), but I don't think the "other Melissa" was given enough good
scenes on LITTLE HOUSE, either. In fact, one of her best parts was in an
ABC AFTERSCHOOL SPECIAL (!).

Melissa Sue was very good in the Afterschool Specials "Are You My Mother" and "Beat the Turtle Drum." I expected something cheesy from the 1970's, but she proved she could be a very good actress in these programs. I don't think enough credit went to her. It is too bad in the later seasons they sort of let the Mary character waste away and MSA wanted out. I also liked her in the horror film "Happy Birthday to Me."

LOL...I remember "Happy Birthday To Me"! I taped that off of a movie channel one time in the late 80s (had to be off of Cinemax), but I don't think I have that tape anymore...

I had a HUGE crush on Melissa Sue Anderson...she was very, very pretty, and she had such a beautiful smile! :eyes: :eyes:

I was always disappointed that she wasn't featured more on LHOTP, but whenever she was in any scene, I just could not take my eyes off of her.

However, a couple of years after LHOTP ended, I saw Melissa Gilbert on some awards show or something, and she looked beatiful too... this was probably sometime around 85 or 86, I'm not sure... but I was stunned at how beautiful she turned out to be in those days...

The other thing I remember M-SA from is a movie which turned out to be the pilot for the TV Series "James at 15". I enjoyed this show when I was in high school...MSA was never on the TV show, but in the pilot/movie, she played James' (Lance Kerwin's) girl friend, Lacey, in Oregon ... the story involved his family's move from an Oregon suburb to the big city in Boston..James of course, did not want to leave his friends that he grew up with (and he ESPECIALLY did not want to leave Melissa Sue Anderson...I wouldn't have wanted to leave her, either :crying:

Yes, Melissa Sue Anderson was beatiful...and what an awesome smile!

Caroline was beautiful also, IMO. Even though she had very long hair, I thought she looked more beautiful with her hair up...she had a beautiful face. Whatever she did with her hair by wearing it up as she did, that was a great look for her. (of course, almost the only time you ever saw her with her hair down was at night when she was going to bed, and she'd be brushing it... or when she had to run out to the barn in the middle of the night to put out the fire that Mary started when she fell asleep studying for "The Examination"... I'm not sure she ever wore it long and 'fixed up' at the same time).

Melissa Gilbert was certainly a cute girl in those days...but I wouldn't have considered her to be 'beautiful' in the way that Mary was... but Laura sure would have been a lot of fun to hang out with!

The one other girl I thought was very pretty was the girl who played Mary and Laura's friend, "Christy" (her last name was Kennedy on the show). She was played by Tracie Savage, who has apparently appeared on a number of shows over the years, including "My Three Sons", "Happy Days", "Love American Style" and "8 Simple Rules"... I thought she and Mary were the prettiest girls in the WHOLE school (all 1 room of it)...

Did you ever see Tracie Savage in Friday the 13th Part 3? She had a nice chunk of good camera time in it. I think she was 19 or 20 in it and very pretty. Isn't she a big newspaper reporter now or something?

I probably have seen at least part of Friday Part 3...(the only one I saw in the theater, and in its entirety, was Part I, but I've seen parts of most of the rest of them on the movie channels over the years)...but I'm sure I wouldn't have made the connection about Tracie... in fact, it wasn't until I wrote that last post that I actually checked to see who played "Christy" on LHOTP. I never knew her real name until I looked it up the other day...

I'm not sure what Tracie is doing now, but when I saw the name I thought it sounded very familiar.

I might just have to break down and check out Part 3 now...add it to the ol' Netflix queue and check Tracie out... I just hope Jason was nice to her

I watch LHotP on Hallmark almost everyday. I can't get over how gorgeous Melissa Gilbert became as she grew up, especially the last few seasons. Mmm-mmm-MMMM! :eyes:

Here are the Turnbaugh twins aka baby Grace Ingalls. Guys were drooling over them at the Little House Cast Reunion & Western Film Festival that I went to in 2005 in Tombstone, AZ. That's Karen Grassle to their left and Charlotte Stewart to their right.
