View Full Version : Gee, does anybody think this will get a DVD release? seventies_sitcoms 06-23-2005, 04:33 PM Just wondering! TVFactFan 06-24-2005, 06:10 PM Just wondering! I hope Not. Damm this was a unwatchable show. I'm just wondering how the show finished behind Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company,Happy Days, and Mork and Mindy after the 1978-79 season as the #5 Tv Show Dr. Thong 06-24-2005, 06:17 PM I doubt it. It was on for two seasons and didn't really resonate. Even Hello Larry, which only lasted two seasons, at least had infamy going for it. You have to be really great or really bad and Angie was neither. TVFactFan 06-24-2005, 06:31 PM I doubt it. It was on for two seasons and didn't really resonate. Even Hello Larry, which only lasted two seasons, at least had infamy going for it. You have to be really great or really bad and Angie was neither. I'm mad requested the show-lol Dr. Thong 06-24-2005, 10:17 PM I'm mad requested the show-lol I do remember watching it when it was on - I pretty much watched anything and everything back then. It wasn't a bad show - it seemed like they were trying to cash in on Donna Pescow's notoriety from being in Saturday Night Fever. I remember the theme song was one of those groovy seventies theme songs, with hippy-dippy lyrics like "let the rose flower." Only in the seventies... :D Mr. Television 06-24-2005, 10:21 PM I liked the show. The first season was much better then the second though. TVFactFan 06-24-2005, 10:38 PM I liked the show. The first season was much better then the second though. The only thing was the theme song. Why was the 1st season much better? Caitlyn 06-26-2005, 01:59 AM I watched Angie during it's original run. I was an avid, loyal fan & loved the plot & thought it was a highly entertaining sitcom. One episode that still comes to mind is the episode when The Falcos & The Bensons compete on Family Feud . Back in those days we didn't have VCR's so I grabbed a cassette & taped the episode on my recorder to play it back when I needed something light & funny to listen to. Grandma Falco was priceless. I especially loved the part when she took & gave Richard Dawson a big hug & said, "Ricardo Dawson, I luva you"! It was so cute & a golden moment from the many good episodes & moments from the series. I have longed to see this show again for years, especially now, since it's the age of this new video technology we'd stand a chance of possibly seeing this happen. It'd be a welcome addition to my collection. I had a crush on Robert Hays back when this was running & still find him incredibly attractive. The Falcos were close-knit & banned together, I liked the sense of family also about this show. I was sorry to see the show get cancelled, it didn't deserve to end so soon, & had a great cast with remarkable chemistry. If there happen to be any other fans of this show viewing this board or post, please cast your vote on the http://tvshowsondvd.com site. Gradually some of the more obscure titles are becoming available, so there is a chance, but the more people who show their support & interest the better. This show actually ran a season & a half I believe & was in fact popular in it's day (it's having made the top 5 list in the ratings during it's brief run should speak for itself). I was there in 1979/80, I should know! :) TVFactFan 06-26-2005, 12:23 PM I watched Angie during it's original run. Caitlyn 06-26-2005, 07:17 PM Sent an e-mail  willjr 07-01-2005, 11:51 AM I also watched Angie,I was Sr in high school back then,I watched it only for Donna Pescow,I had such a crush on her,she is the only celeb that I collect pics, mags articles etc.... She was so cute, and I think with all the campy-ness about the show it was not so bad as somefolks say,but I do agree with the changes in the second season where not needed,That Mary,Mary,Mary stuff was hard to swallow. Did you know that Mrs. Pescow was in the stage production of Grease in Long Beach in 1983,she played Rizzo, evidently she can sing also.I have a rare program from the show she was in it with Belinda Carlise,Barry Williams and Casey Kasem.Wierd but true. Caitlyn 07-04-2005, 03:32 PM I didn't know she had been in the stage production of Grease, but am not surprised, she's a talented actress & very pretty. I can see her in the part of Rizzo because Donna looks Italian (but the initial *W* may indicate otherwise). She has beautiful eyes & a bubbly personality which is another reason she's so likable. butterflies05 07-12-2005, 01:29 PM I would love to see Angie again! They haven't even gone forward with season twos for Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley, which were actual hit shows back in those days. I barely remember Angie - I think it lasted, what, a season-and-a-half?? Besides, I'm still waiting for Makin' It: The Complete Series!!!:D  TVFactFan 04-28-2006, 06:58 PM ...there was an audience for "ANGIE" on DVD, they would have released it by now. It's a terribly underrated show that deserves to be acknowledged & will eventually get released on DVD after the shows that are being released season by season are finished, This is one of the best sitcoms of the 1970's. & my personal favorite. The show was well done in my opinion & should've thrived a few more years alongside That's My Mama, another underrated gem from that decade. I don't really consider Angie a 70's sitcom since it started in spring of 1979. Dr. Thong 05-04-2006, 05:25 PM I don't really consider Angie a 70's sitcom since it started in spring of 1979. True, but it really wasn't an eighties sitcom either, as it was cancelled in 1980. :D :D TVFactFan 05-04-2006, 06:54 PM True, but it really wasn't an eighties sitcom either, as it was cancelled in 1980. :D :D How bout a late 70's/early's 80's Sitcom?-LOL Dr. Thong 05-05-2006, 07:14 PM How bout a late 70's/early's 80's Sitcom?-LOL Good enough.;) comedyfreak 05-26-2006, 09:21 AM I was a big Angie fan when the show debuted and watched it every week. They ruined the show by having Angie get married, they should have stuck with the original concept. I'd buy the dvd, I really like Doris Roberts and Debra Lee Scott as well as Donna Pescow. You're pretty heinous, Solomon! First you send me the above-mentioned 4 episodes, which make me wish the complete show was readily available on DVD, THEN you talk about how you don't think the show is worth a hoot and hope it never sees the light of day! You're evil, you are;) TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 12:47 PM You're pretty heinous, Solomon! First you send me the above-mentioned 4 episodes, which make me wish the complete show was readily available on DVD, THEN you talk about how you don't think the show is worth a hoot and hope it never sees the light of day! You're evil, you are;) Yeah I always thought the show was GARBAGE but I had it in my collection because it's a Rare Sitcom and that's what I like to collect. But the show is just so unwatchable but I wouldn't mine receiving some ABC eps of this show since II'm also an Original Airings Collector-lol Scoobiedoo30 07-22-2006, 11:40 AM I think Angie will get a DVD Release Sophie Treadmill 07-20-2007, 11:21 AM I don't think it will be released, but there is a niche market for it, IMO. They should do a limited release or something. I would really like to see this show on DVD because I was so little when it came out that my memories are fuzzy. I love seeing TV shows from when I was really young and seeing how it compares with my fuzzy memory. I like the show but was a little disappointed when I saw it a few years back. I thought that it would be filmed in videotape than film and thought that the disco theme would be used instead. To me, it is average and I'll take that. TVFactFan 07-20-2007, 11:36 PM I really doubt it. It could happen though. I like the show but was a little disappointed when I saw it a few years back. It's a little below average, Average are shows like Alice Laverne and Shirley A Different World Mr. Television 07-20-2007, 11:48 PM Angie was a great show especially the first season and more obscure sitcoms have been released so you never know. :) catlover79 07-21-2007, 12:56 AM Angie was a great show especially the first season and more obscure sitcoms have been released so you never know. :) Stranger things have happened (like Pink Lady & Jeff being released,)! ajm1972 08-20-2007, 10:27 PM For what it's worth there has been talk of getting this one released on DVD. Aj ThomasE 08-20-2007, 10:33 PM If that is the case, then I will look for it on DVD. TVFactFan 08-21-2007, 05:29 PM If that is the case, then I will look for it on DVD. You watched this show enough in syndication to buy the DVD??-lol Ireneparalegal 09-13-2007, 08:34 PM Angie was a great show especially the first season and more obscure sitcoms have been released so you never know. :) It really was. By the second season with the changes they made, it was even better. I will buy it if it ever comes out. OKCRay 02-15-2009, 02:56 AM I would also buy this. As far as why the show only lasted a season and a half, there were so many changes happening in that short time span that the viewer probably thought "what the heck happened???" if they had missed a couple episodes. Let's see... first Angie is a waitress in a coffee shop and falls in love with pediatrician Brad. They get married and move in to his huge mansion. A few episodes later Brad surprises Angie by purchasing the coffee shop and has Angie become manager. Not long after that Angie puts the mansion on the market and they move to a smaller, cozier (yet still opulent) home, with Brad's offices downstairs. Not long after that Angie sells the coffee shop and purchases a beauty salon (employing her mother, who previously worked at a newsstand). This was still an enjoyable show and had some good comedy writing and great performances from Donna Pescow, Robert Hays, Debralee Scott, Sharon Spellman and Doris Roberts. Hey maybe SHOUT! FACTORY can look into this... they've done a great job picking up the ball with DVD releases so far this year! peewee 06-24-2009, 02:34 PM SHOUT owns the rights to ANGIE now ,,......about two years ago right when THAT GIRL was coming out from SHOUT,they were talking about putting ANGIE,ALICE & The NANNY & THE PROFESSOR out on season sets.... but as of yet no releases.........:) McGillicuddy 06-24-2009, 04:13 PM If Shout! does indeed have the rights, I bet it will eventually be released, especially for Doris Roberts, since she became so well known on Everybody Loves Raymond. People would want to see here as Mrs. Falco. TVFactFan 07-20-2024, 04:53 PM And BOOM!!! 10 years after the question was asked the show is complete on DVD. Maybe the most surprising release in past 10 years king of comedy 07-26-2024, 08:01 AM It's already on DVD. I saw it and it was a charming show and very underrated.
