Ever since the only cinema in our entire town (the next one is about 18 miles from our town- and it's not as though I live in a small village- there's about 35,000 people!) I really really have to want to see a film before I'll go see it- whereas before I'd just go down to the cinema, and see whatever's there. Anyway, was wondering- which upcoming films do you all really wanna see? For me it's:

1) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- loved the book and original film, but at the same time Tim Burton is the best and the trailer looks excellent!

2) Corpse Bride- Tim Burton again, plus I love the style of animation- Nightmare Before Christmas being the best animated film ever!

3) Bewitched- love the kookiness of the trailer- plus it's that camp Stepford Wives vibe- I loved Kidman's remake of The Stepford Wives!

4) Manderlay- it'll probably be like a year till a UK distributor picks this up- but Dogville was great, and I'm hoping the sequel will be

5) The Producers- frankly, I'd probably see any new musical being released (excluding the rap 'musicals') because I love musicals and I'm so glad they're making a comeback ("I hate that word, it's a return!") on the big-screen. In saying that though- I've heard 2 songs from this show, and seen the original movie- and it's all hilarious! Should be a big hit!

6) Rent- another musical, I know nothing about this show except it deals with bohemian life, poverty and AID's in the East Village- very serious for a musical (not a bad thing imo). I've heard 3 songs from this and they're all great as well!

I'm not big on musicals, especially anything recent.... but this looks great.

Lol- can't get 'Seasons of Love' outta my head either! 'One Thousand Kisses' and 'Take me or leave me' are the 2 other songs I have from 'Rent' and they're great too!

It's about a boy who becomes obsessed with "Star Wars" after managing to see the film a few months before it's officially released, and his difficulties in going to see it on the day it comes out.

It sounds really good...and it has Christopher Lloyd in it, always a plus for me.

None. There is nothing original coming out this year. Just a bunch of wack remakes.

It's so typical that you have to be an ass, and a racist one at that.

Hi Isiah, :)

Mine isn't. I don't know much about the others, but they don't seem corny; then again it's your opinion, and you probably know more than I do about them. :) But I don't view the movie I picked as corny. Star Wars may be part of the plot, but it's got good reviews by people who have looked it over; some have said it's similar in some ways to "American Graffiti."

In my opinion, any movie with the Lloydster in it must have some redeeming features. If nothing else, just the fact that he's in it.

Sorry for the double post...

Anyway, barwars, I'm afraid I don't know the release date. I think someone said it might be later in the summer, but I'm not sure if that's correct or not. I think, though, that filming has finished, and the trailer is already on the Internet, so hopefully it won't be long.

The bottom line is that to me, none of these movies are appealing. I go to the movies to see something new, not something remade. I know everbody go different taste, but it is obvious Hollywood ran out of ideas. Barwars, a racist comment would come from someone who degraded a certain race. Simply put it, Isiah was just saying that whites got a different taste of entertainment than blacks, that's all.

I agree with barwars- those comments are racial- putting all white people into one category.

Sharop- agree that Christopher Lloyd is great! Have you seen 'Clue'? He plays Professor Plum- the film is great!

It does get annoying that each year there are more and more remakes and sequels. 2 films on my list are remakes, and 1 is a sequel- occasionally there are some good ones. Apparently movie execs did a study to figure out which movies were favoured by audiences- the answer was sequels. There's so many sequels being made that they forget to make original, stand alone movies (practically ever movie now is left with some plot untied in case the movie makes loadsa money and they want a sequel).

I'm not bothered though by adaptations of books- it's one form of text translated for the screen and is very different than remaking or making a sequel.

That may be true in some cases, but I don't think that all white people and black people have different tastes in entertainment. I'm into many black singers - The Supremes, The O'Jays, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, etc...and I know of other white people who like music that originated from black people. Similarly, I know of black people that are into The Beatles, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys, etc...some white people and black people obviously have different tastes, but there are others that have very similar tastes.

Oh, and webuster, I have seen Clue - I agree, it is a very funny film.

i pretty much agree that most of this summer's movies aren't that appealing (to me at least anyways), mostly because they are relying on too many dumb remakes and bad rippoffs.

...as for just stating that people have different tastes, its a little different when someone flatly calls it bad taste.
