Ever found yourself having to make a major decision about your life, and hearing that little voice that says things like:

"I need to consider, contemplate..."
"A choice for my future, my life..."
"You and who knows how many others have been conspiring to make it for me!"
"I don't know why I bother turning up!"

I had this sudden realisation when deciding whether to move house (and feeling cornered and pressured about making a decision) that I'm far more like Maddie than I ever thought, several of the phrases above were echoing around my noggin and making some kinda sense... However, I'm too far from Chicago to make a run for it..

Does that mean I need a David Addison type of bloke in my life then!!?

LOL! I have that when I'm going to a museum or something. Looking at some art of van Gogh and Gaugain or something haha!

I have that when people are nagging about looks and stuff.
Then I think: "I don't give a flying fig about the lines in my face, the crowsfeet by my eyes, or the altitude of my caboos!" "And I don't give a flying fig about people who DO!" ;-)

i totally agree with Taz!

Perhaps i'm from Mars, 'cause i used to think like "Mul Hayes" - - when i was younger (i mean 14-15). Weird, isn't it? Or probably i'm keeping my mind like that but now i just don't notice! :D

But what if i'm wrong and i turn into Dave  ?

Well, i'd be so cool........ that's sure!

Saludos!

I love that Myst, 'Mul Hayes'!!! It certainly felt like it the other day for me...

Funny how theres a little bit of Maddie in all of us. I'd like to think that I'm far happier that fun and games/magic and mirth can take place in the office tho! And I'd not run to Chicago if I was with ole Daveroonie either!

Agree with ya totally Taz about not giving a flying fig about crows feet, caboose etc... Maddie was right when she said that we all understand what a flying fig is!

I think there's a bit of Maddie in all of us. I think she's a bit like Bridget Jones in the way that women can always find something about her to relate to. Personally, I've had people tell me that they think I'm a bit of an ice maiden and that before they got to know me they were too scared to talk to me! I really don't know why and I certainly don't do it on purpose! But I think Maddie's a lot like that too.

Funny Gem I hear that too sometime, untill they get to know you.
Then people are surprised how good a pal I really am! ;-}

Sometimes I fell like I can really relate to Maddie. And I too have had people tell me that I "give out stay away from me vibes" which I suppose is a similar thing to being an ice maiden. But it must be also to do with the other person's perception and take on life cause I have also had lots of other much nicer things said - I don't want you all to think I am some sad loser!

I think that because Maddie and David are such great characters we want to see a bit of ourselves in them. Put the good bits of them both together and you would have a near perfect person

We've been Maddified! I think it's quite possible that we've spent far too much time in the company of our hero and heroine! ;) (as if we'd have it any other way)

You're right Tamm, I think it's testimony to the great writers and to Glenn that the characters are so rounded and real that we can see our own characteristics in them and can relate to them so well. On the other hand there are plent of times when I want to shout and them 'what the hell are you doing?'!!!

p.s. you're not a sad looser!

Thanks Gem! Though as this is the 2nd time I have been on this board today others may care to differ.

You are also probably correct in that the time we have spent watching Moonlighting has probably affected us. Particularly with the DVDs I have spent so much time in Blue Moon land that there were times at work last week that I got a little confused as to where I was. Now that is sad :tv:

I'm so glad I started this thread!! I started out being quite shocked that I could even be like Maddie in the way I deal with things, but I've found that other people feel that same way at times too!

I find it fascinating too, that the writers and actors did such a great job so that we can identify with Maddie (and David) so well as complete rounded characters. I agree with you tho Gem, we've all spent so much time in their company, we know them sooo well now and they've both got into our noggin!

Noggin - what a wonderful word, you don't hear it much. I think I will find an excuse to use it tomorrow

I SOOOOOO agree with you guys on this one. Personally, I seem to be Maddie to strangers, and David to friends. Is that weird, or what?

Nah, I don't think it's weird - they're like two sides of the same coin (does David say that in an episode?), they're totally different, but where each of them is lacking in a character aspect, the other makes up for it. That's why they're so great together.

I love the picture you have Caitybelle! Does anyone have a larger copy of that? I'd love to use it for a wallpaper.

Thanks! I actually found it somewhere on this site: http://www.davidandmaddie.com/index.htm. Can't quite remember exactly where, otherwise I'd hook you right to it. They have some seriously cool shots -- stuff I've never seen, which is amazing since I used to make a career of finding pictures and interviews when I was a kid. It comes a bit bigger, but in wallpapering whole desktop you may have to tile, since its not like huge or anything.

As for the rest of the message, I do so agree! I used to think being David must have been the best of all things, but in looking at him, he's more conservative and committed and old fashioned in so many ways that she is -- sort of like she's logically grounded, and emotionally reckless and he's the opposite. I think had the show gone one we could have seen them evolve to a happy medium between them.

Medium. Pun on new GCC show. Ho Ho Ho......

This is from a scene filmed for The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice that was cut out from the episode. It would have been nice to have seen it as one of the extras on the DVD set, no?

Thanks Cindy. There's a great collection there, I can see another wallpaper coming on.

Yeah, the dvd's were a perfect opportunity to put cut scenes like that in. Such a shame they didn't.

What a wonderful photo... I looked at it and wondered why it seemed strange and then realised that it's because it's in colour!!

I do like the two sides of the same coin argument... If my memory serves me well, wasn't that a quote from To Heiress Human ?

"You and I are two sides of the same coin, we eat sexual tension for breakfast..."

funny, i was just thinking about that ep today -- wondering why she tells "sam" the night before that she was in love with david, then turns and tells david they're just an affair.

Of course, i know if we got deep into the discussion would be like "well maybe she's afraid he doesn't love her as much and just wanted reassurance, yadda yadda," and i think that's true too (given how she yells at him when he says affair is just fine and she's nothing more to him than that -- she certainly was fishing there for a much different answer), but does make one wonder how much different it would have been had the conversation gone another direction.

Ah, how like life. I think that's why sometimes i get so mad at the both of them, yet love them at the same time -- they are way too human. and why i get mad at the show's end -- was too human too. and when it comes down to it, the "fiction" could have been more happily controlled (though there is a camp out there that thinks had the show been aloud to continue it would have spun back again -- sort of like the ying and yang/chi stuff at work all over again).

Speaking of, wasn't there a David ying and yang quote too? Don't know if same ep or not.... but i sort of hear his voice echoing something to that effect in the back o my noggin.

I sure do wish that scene had been included. It looks like they are eating each other up for breakfast.

no kidding! they do kiss very well. i had no idea that was a deleted scene... i know that GCC mentioned that they often had very few deleted ones b/c usually they were running short, rather than over. what a bummer! they should have put them on there.

I tried like crazy to find easter eggs, but to no avail...
