View Full Version : Latest Sony TV on DVD poll: Summer '05
vashti1999 06-22-2005, 08:26 PM I didn't know about this until reading it on another forum, but Sony currently has an active poll on their website asking what show you'd like them to release next. It's only a list of 10 shows and you can only choose one. The choices are:
Street Time
Action
Facts of Life
Benson
One Day At A Time
Johnny Cash Show
Designing Women
VIP
Silver Spoons
Highway Patrol
Go to this page (http://www.sonypictures.com/cthe/tv/tvondvd.html), then go to the small box that says Take the SPHE TV on DVD poll. And make sure you vote for One Day At A Time!!!! ;)
barwars 06-22-2005, 08:32 PM Johnny Cash Show 8.04%

Silver Spoons 1.14%
Designing Women 19.54%
One Day at a Time 12.64%
Street Time 1.14%

Thats the ranking, at least at this time.
Those Designing Women bitches better step down.... FOL needs to be on DVD.
I voted for The Facts of Life, but would also get Benson, Silver Spoons and One Day At A Time.
L&OFan4Eva 06-22-2005, 08:34 PM I don't know what to vote for: One Day at a Time, Facts of Life, One Day at a Time, Facts of Life, this is too HARD, I tell ya! I'll take a day to clear my head of this important decision.
vashti1999 06-22-2005, 08:35 PM Those Designing Women bitches better step down.
I voted for The Facts of Life, but would also get Benson, Silver Spoons and One Day At A Time.
That's the same thing I said when I saw they were leading after I placed my vote. Designing Women?!?
Facts of Life is going to get its votes. You shoulda voted for ODAAT.
barwars 06-22-2005, 08:35 PM You take the good (FOL),
you take the bad (ODAAT),
you take 'em both and there you have....
The Facts Of Life.
barwars 06-22-2005, 08:36 PM That's the same thing I said when I saw they were leading after I placed my vote. Designing Women?!?
Facts of Life is going to get its votes. You shoulda voted for ODAAT.
ODAAT would have been my vote, if FOL wasn't an option.... but I want that on DVD more than any other long running sitcom.
L&OFan4Eva 06-22-2005, 08:40 PM barwars, ODAAT is not a bad show! I should wash your mouth out with soap or something! Shame on you for being uneducated on the great sitcoms of our time.
barwars 06-22-2005, 08:44 PM barwars, ODAAT is not a bad show! I should wash your mouth out with soap or something! Shame on you for being uneducated on the great sitcoms of our time.
Ohh, I know, I like it a lot, I plan on getting it on DVD.
I was just trying to buy your vote for FOL.
L&OFan4Eva 06-22-2005, 08:47 PM I voted for ODAAT 'cuz when I last checked, FOL and DW were tied with 18.68%. And plus I did a process of elimination:
Action- I heard it might get released in the winter.
Benson- It'll get released eventually.
Designing Women- I have all the episodes on tape.
Silver Spoons- Mark my words: it'll get released.
VIP: 'Nuff said.
Highway Patrol: Just from the sound of the title it's probably bad.
Street Time- Too unknown for people to buy, though putting Joel Fleischmann, Max Medina and Cousin Pam on the cover wouldn't hurt. lol
Johnny Cash Show- Music rights, perhaps?
Facts of Life- The fan support will come.
I'm surprised Strong Medicine wasn't on the list granted it is probably one of Sony Pictures TV's most popular show presently.

vashti1999 06-22-2005, 10:33 PM Street Time?! What is that even?
Dramatic series that aired on Showtime starring Rob Morow.
Pavan 06-22-2005, 11:42 PM This poll is BS, lol. I think most of those are series in the works anyway. We know One Day at a Time, Designing Women and Silver Spoons are coming later this year, and I bet Facts of Life will, too. Action is for sure in the works.
Dean Winchester 06-23-2005, 12:52 AM in the order I want
FACTS OF LIFE!!!!
ONE DAY AT A TIME
BENSON
vashti1999 06-23-2005, 01:15 AM I voted for The Facts of Life, but would also get Benson, Silver Spoons and One Day At A Time.
By the way, you're not allowed to get Benson until you get Soap.
robby76 06-23-2005, 01:24 AM I think someone's hacked into the poll... I'm on dial-up and can only vote for either Designing Women or the Johnny Cash Show.
Even if i refresh the page it still only gives me two options! That's probably why Designing Women got so many votes.

Who says? If Sony has plans on releasing some, if not all of those shows listed, who's to say that they won't use these votes to decide what they'll release next? That's all it really said, "what should we release NEXT." It could mean a shorter wait for some of those shows.
barwars 06-23-2005, 10:24 AM By the way, you're not allowed to get Benson until you get Soap.
I plan on getting Soap eventually.... but I prefer Benson.

Pavan 06-23-2005, 11:00 AM Who says? If Sony has plans on releasing some, if not all of those shows listed, who's to say that they won't use these votes to decide what they'll release next? That's all it really said, "what should we release NEXT." It could mean a shorter wait for some of those shows.
While I would like to believe this poll means something, I really don't. I've seen networks create fake polls when they already made plans for that show. For example, Lifetime created this petition asking fans to vote to get The Golden Palace on the air. What BS, they already had plans to air the show and bought it before that petition took place, lol. TV Land's poll has all their acquired shows coming in that list, mixed in with random shows. And as for this Sony poll, most of the shows listed are already in the works. I haven't heard anything yet on Facts of Life or Benson, but I'd assume they are in the works (FOL maybe with SS and/or DS S2; Benson after SOAP S4 comes out).
L&OFan4Eva 06-23-2005, 11:12 AM Thanks, pavan. Well, I think they might've spoiled the two shows coming to N@N or TV Land. I think they might be Blossom, Benson and The Jeffersons, or does TVL still own The Jeffersons?
TVJunkie101 06-23-2005, 11:25 AM I agree with Pav. The poll is BS, but I still voted. And odds are, Benson and The Facts of Life will be out sometime this year, no doubt. Action I've heard IS already in the works while inserts into Sony's latest releases are advertising Designing Women: S1, so.... I would just consider that poll a preview of what's to come, LOL.
As for the TV Land poll. That's been there for a while. At least a year. I think a couple of shows were taken off but for the most part it's the same list and several of the shows on the list ARE coming, or have already started on TV Land. So just narrow down the likely suspects to join TV Land/N@N in the next year and bam.. there ya go.
I'm almost 100% convinced The Jeffersons will be back on TV Land. I can see Benson as well. And no, TV Land doesn't own the rights to The Jeffersons. They lost them at the end of 2002 (I think).
I'm surprised TVOne never acquired The Jeffersons... if TV Land doesn't re-acquire it, hopefully TVOne picks it up.
robby76 06-23-2005, 11:25 AM Designing Women already has a season out??? Why is it on the list?
vashti1999 06-23-2005, 11:42 AM Designing Women already has a season out??? Why is it on the list?
There's a Best of Designing Women out, not a season set.
vashti1999 06-23-2005, 11:47 AM I agree with Pav. The poll is BS, but I still voted. And odds are, Benson and The Facts of Life will be out sometime this year, no doubt. I'm not disputing that the poll is a preview of what's to come. I guess we'll find out for sure if the poll is BS if what turns out to be the obvious poll leaders aren't released relatively soon and in order of popularity based on this poll. I don't have any issue with the possibility that all of these were already planned. The poll simply said "Tell us what we should release NEXT."
dawsongirl 06-23-2005, 12:15 PM Dramatic series that aired on Showtime starring Rob Morow.
Well that explains it...I don't have Showtime.
spunkygirl 06-23-2005, 12:46 PM Yeah I don't believe the poll means anything either, but I voted for Silver Spoons ;)
gidgetgrape 06-23-2005, 01:19 PM Sony's polls make me hostile. Just give me the release dates.
Dean Winchester 06-23-2005, 02:11 PM Designing Women already has a season out??? Why is it on the list?
there's a "The Best of Designing Women" DVD, but IMO, best of sets don't count.
Sony said on the pamphlet to be on the lookout for DW season 1, not that it's already out in stores. Remember, they said this with One Day At A Time almost a year ago and it's still yet to be formally announced.
Dean Winchester 06-23-2005, 02:13 PM I'm sure FOL could have 99% of the vote and still Sony would opt to release more obscure odd bombs like Tabitha and Ned And Stacey instead because "who knows, maybe they'd bring in more buyers than The Facts Of Life and One Day At A Time would"
Dean Winchester 06-23-2005, 02:16 PM I'm surprised Action and VIP are putting up such a fight. Well, I know Action kinda has a cult following, but VIP? didn't realize so many people wanted Pammy on DVD. I figured Benson would be in higher demand than those two.
FOL, ODAAT and DW being in the top 3 doesn't surprise me, I have been anticipating FOL on DVD since I bought my very first TV-DVD, which was the first season of Sex And The City, FIVE YEARS AGO.
mlingerfelt 06-23-2005, 07:06 PM WILL THEY DO ANOTHER POLL DOES ANYBODY HAVE INFO ONSESON1 OF THE ROOKIES AND HART TO HART.
Dean Winchester 06-24-2005, 04:35 PM my prediction: if/when it comes out, I think Facts Of Life is likely to become Sony's biggest TV-DVD seller that DOESN'T have a character named Kramer in it. The show has such a large fanbase and the hunger to own the show is so huge that I think that FOL will be a huge success for Sony. If you notice, it's one of the most requested shows in the Tape Trading area.
I also think One Day At A Time will perform very well for Sony too, because like FOL, the availability on television is so short right now and fans too are dying to see the episodes again.
L&OFan4Eva 06-24-2005, 04:44 PM But here's a question for you, buffy. Which season do you think will sell the most? I predict Season 4.
Dean Winchester 06-24-2005, 06:03 PM But here's a question for you, buffy. Which season do you think will sell the most? I predict Season 4.
I think season 1-2 will sell best (since it is expected Sony will release them together), just because it's usually a given that the first volume is the biggest seller regardless of the quality. For example, The Simpsons and Seinfeld's first volumes are the biggest sellers even though many people do not consider those to be the best year. For pretty much all the "big seller" titles (ala Seinfeld, Simpsons, Friends, Sopranos, Sex And The City...), the set that sold the most is always the first. I am mostly anticipating seasons 3-5 and 8.
L&OFan4Eva 06-24-2005, 06:05 PM So am I! We are such DVD buddies almost! lol That was so cheesy

My parents were really strict when it came to how much television I was allowed to watch when I was growing up. During the weekdays I wasn't allowed more then an hour per night, sometimes an hour and a half. This meant that I was never able to watch many of the shows that others were watching. So I had to pick and choose what shows I wanted to watch. They felt that if they limited the amount of television I watched, then I would have more time to develop other interests. In a way I am glad that they did this...though I certainly wasn't at the time.

well, Pav has said he predicts season 1/2 is coming soon. I think since you like ODAAT and Square Pegs that you oughta check FOL out when it comes to DVD. Jamie Gertz guested a few times during season 5. I think you'd really like it, there's no show more 80's than the last three seasons of it. Molly Ringwald was part of the cast during season 1 also (the second season was when it really took off IMO, once Nancy McKeon joined the cast as Jo)

Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 11:09 AM I think Sony's next poll shouldn't be like this (as DW, ODAAT and SS are for sure coming and there's a chance Benson and FOL will come out) and instead opt for the "abandoned" releases.
"What tv series should we continue further?" with options such as:
Mad About You:Season 3 (come on, at least do this season before abandoning for good, ratings were at its best)
SWAT:Season 2 (gee Sony, it's only one remaining season)
Charlie's Angels:Season 3 (at least get the Kate Jackson years completed)
Larry Sanders:Season 2
Who's The Boss:Season 2 (come on, season 1 wasn't a huge ratings hit, season 2 put the show in the top 10 and is regarded as a fan-favorite)
227:Season 2 (ratings peaked in season 2, so should sales)
Barney Miller:Season 2 (I hate the show but fans deserve at least one full-season release)
Jeff Foxworthy Show:Season 2 (gee Sony, it's only one remaining season)
Party Of Five:Season 2 (hello, does Matthew Fox and Lost ring a bell? strike while the iron is still hot!!! Hell, even try to capitalize on Lacey Chabert's "comeback" in Mean Girls when you still can)
and whatever the winner is, Sony has to begrudgedly release.
This would be a lot more fun to see than a poll of shows that are more than likely out in the next six months.
spunkygirl 06-27-2005, 11:13 AM That is a good idea, and seriously I'm waiting for Who's the Boss? Season 2, it's my favorite season, I seriously refuse to believe that Too Close For Comfort would sell way better than Who's the Boss? :(

well, Rhino does TCFC. Companies like Rhino and Anchor Bay seem to care more about giving the fans what they want as opposed to "how many copies has this DVD sold in ratio next to Seinfeld?". Notice how AB committed to all three Greatest American Hero seasons before season 1 was even on shelves even tho Sony and Warner have titles that are infinately more popular than GAH that are in release limbo... because AB realizes that while GAH is likely not going to sell in the millions, it does appeal to a certain niche fanbase that will buy all 3 seasons.
Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 11:39 AM I have never seen the show but maybe there is a chance that TCFC has been a good seller on DVD.
It was a top 10 hit in it's day and yet I don't think it's aired anywhere since a brief stint on TBS back around 1991 or so. Plus, there are probably 80's collectors out there who remember the show from back in the day and are getting it for that reason, because it doesn't air anywhere.
I remember reading one of the reasons What's Happening and Soap both scored so well on DVD for Sony (whereas a more obvious seller like Who's The Boss didn't fare as expected) is because they haven't aired in reruns for a very long time, so the fans of the show bought the DVD in numbers they might've not had it been regularly airing on TV Land (lol, it's wise that WH season 3 comes right before it's TVL premiere... so the fans will have the entire series). This is a reason why I predict One Day At A Time and Facts Of Life will do great on DVD, because they don't air anywhere unless you're a Chicago resident
spunkygirl 06-27-2005, 11:41 AM Yeah that could be possible, but wouldn't that same thing work for the Jefferson's? I mean it's not really airing in alot of markets, so maybe that will help Season 3 sell better :) I do get the Jefferson's where I live, but it's in a small tv market
Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 11:50 AM I'm still not sure why The Jeffersons didn't do better, it seems like it lost a lot of fans, but I dunno why.
I remember working in retail when season 1 of Jeffersons and Sanford came out, a co-worker was all "wow, Sanford And Son's coming out!!!" and I was "yea, so are The Jeffersons" and he was "who cares about The Jeffersons, SANFORD AND SON IS COMING OUT!!!!". This seems to be the mentality of a lot of people considering S&S has since been completed on DVD while there are only half as many Jeffersons DVD's on the market as S&S.
vashti1999 06-27-2005, 11:56 AM If I remember correctly, Soap was airing in TV Land's Kitschen around the time it was first released on dvd.
What's Happening was interesting because initially it was being sold through TimeLife before Sony sold it in stores. That's how I originally got it and there was a lot of demand for it. I'd been monitoring eBay at the time, and some fool actually bid $80 for it, the same set that would eventually be in stores for around $20.

lol, I bet that guy was probably pissed off when it came out by Sony. Weren't they doing this with Good Times also?
I also have seen a lot of the Columbia House Cosby Show DVD's fetching big prices on Ebay, I bet people who were bidding $30 for 4 episodes from season 1 are now feeling burned because for a few dollars more, they can get all 20-someodd season 1 episodes on preorder
Nighthawk76 06-27-2005, 05:06 PM well, Pav has said he predicts season 1/2 is coming soon. I think since you like ODAAT and Square Pegs that you oughta check FOL out when it comes to DVD. Now that I think of it I did see The Facts of Life a couple of times. Believe it or not, my grandmother actually used to watch it. So there were times when she would be visiting us or vise versa that I watched an episode with her. I know I saw the series finale with her in August 1988. I'm not sure if it was a repeat of the fianle from the previous spring, or that their finale simply aired late.
The Facts of Life has always been a show that I've been curious about, because people mostly say good things about it. However, I don't have the kind of money where I would buy a show on DVD unless I was possitive I was going to like it. If they ever brought it back to television, I would probably check it out.
I know a little bit about the series from having watched Diff'rent Strokes all the time when I was a kid. I know for example that the girls' school in TFOF is supposed to be the same school that Kimberly attended in the early seasons of DS. And I know about the Mrs. Garrett connection obviously. I also knew that Jami was on the show a couple of times during the 1983-1984 season. I know that her character was named Boots St. Clair, which is sort of a cool name. I also knew about Molly Ringwald being on the show early on.

well, this is Sony we're talking about, it shouldn't retail more than $29.99 when it comes out and will probably be easily found at the $20-22 range online, which will be a good deal considering it'll be 29 episodes
vashti1999 06-27-2005, 06:52 PM well, this is Sony we're talking about, it shouldn't retail more than $29.99 when it comes out and will probably be easily found at the $20-22 range online, which will be a good deal considering it'll be 29 episodes
We can only hope that'll be the case. I assumed Bewitched had that same SRP but it's $10 more, a $39.95 list price. I expected it to be the same as Sanford or the Jeffersons.
Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 07:45 PM another Sony 80's show I'm surprised has yet to be considered is Square Pegs.
Pros:
- It's a cult classic
- It has Sarah Jessica Parker in it (they can promote "before she wrote about sex, she was a Square Peg" like the Remington Steele artwork)
- Jami Gertz has gone onto a nice career too
- It only ran one season so fans wouldn't have to be worried that Sony would abandon it
- people love 80's nostalgia, and this show encapsulates 1982-1983 like no other
Cons:
- Music rights out the wazoo
PrettyinPink55 06-27-2005, 08:56 PM I would definetly chose The Facts of Life!!!
mlingerfelt 06-27-2005, 10:06 PM I agree they need to release S2 OFWTB ,227,DIFFERENT STROKES,AND SWAT .also seasons of THE ROOKIES,HART TO HART,AND WHAT,S HAPPENING NOW.

Dean Winchester 06-28-2005, 03:14 AM even tho I have voted FOL, it's nice to see if anything on the list is going to beat it, it'd be ODAAT, since it's the only other show on the list I want.
Maybe Sony will look at these results and realize there is a HUGE HUGE HUGE market for the two shows
treky 06-28-2005, 03:19 AM I never heard of "Street Time" "Action" & "V.I.P". What were they about?
Nighthawk76 06-28-2005, 03:34 AM I think VIP was an action show starring Pamela Anderson.
PZelda 06-28-2005, 04:09 AM VIP lasted from my eighth grade year (1998) til the end of my junior year in high school (2002). I remember when it was on, and I caught I think three episodes total.
To be honest -- I don't understand how this show lasted four seasons. It's definitely one of the worst dramas ever. *shudder*
Dean Winchester 06-29-2005, 12:56 PM okay, Sony's seriously not really making sense.
ODAAT is getting 41% of the votes and FOL getting 36%, leaving the other 8 shows to fight over the remaining 23% (and only 15% once you consider Silver Spoons has 8%). Sony has really dropped the ball. It's pretty obvious those two shows have rabid fanbases and yet Sony seems to think shows like Tabitha, Ned And Stacey and That's My Mama somehow are bigger titles, considering the way they figured those were worth releasing before One Day and Facts.
sippiecup 06-29-2005, 05:39 PM well, Rhino does TCFC.
I Can't wait till August 2nd when Season 3 of GAH comes out to complete my set!!!! All hail Anchor Bay!
Nighthawk76 06-29-2005, 07:15 PM okay, Sony's seriously not really making sense.

It was Sony that released the short lived series My Big Fat Greek Life on DVD right after CBS cancelled it after like a month. It doesn't make sense to rush that out on DVD but hold back on long running shows like TFOL and ODAAT.
Of course two of my all time favorite shows, Square Pegs and Wonderfalls, were short lived. I was happy to see Wonderfalls put out on DVD (I bought it the first day in stores) and hope that one day Square Pegs gets a DVD release.

Dean Winchester 06-29-2005, 07:44 PM If DW Does Get Released Will You Buy The Later Seasons When All the Good Characters left
I actually know people who thought the show was at its best with Jan Hooks and Julia Duffy in place of Charlene and Suzanne.
troopoleon8897 06-29-2005, 08:53 PM it just wasnt the same for me
L&OFan4Eva 06-29-2005, 09:31 PM I found seasons 1-6 to be great, but season 7 was unbearable to watch. Really unbearable. I mean, like Murphy Brown season 10 level ubearability.
Dean Winchester 07-01-2005, 05:13 PM just great, FOL's now down to fourth place, this means once again Sony will snub it
Come on, Designing Women? it's a poor mans Golden Girls! Plus it airs nightly on Lifetime, I can understand ODAAT higher, but DW? I also am not too fond of Silver Spoons, but mostly because I just don't care for Rick Schroder as a person, but like ODAAT and FOL it doesn't air anymore.
I am sure Sony will see this poll and then decide never to release FOL since we all know That's My Mama and Ned And Stacey and Tabitha lasted so much longer.

Dean Winchester 07-01-2005, 09:35 PM well, my frustration is that we know ODAAT, SS and DW are coming, those titles are safe. Seeing FOL come in a distant fourth will make Sony figure that it's not worth the hassle to put out, and we'll never see it.
Even though IMO, FOL and SS should come out the same day, FOL was the first one to have Diff'rent Strokes connections (well, Hello Larry was first, but I doubt that'll ever been seen on DVD besides the crossover episodes) and ran longer, so Sony should release that at the same time.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see "Hello, Larry" on DVD. It has got to be the most notorious short lived series of all time.

Are we over-reacting? To quote the member formerly known as TVShowAnalyzer, I'll bet one paycheck from my job that Facts of Life will be released in the near future.
Keep in mind I'm talking about the job that I don't get paid for.
Kristina 07-01-2005, 10:15 PM If they ever did release the Facts of Life, they'd better release season one & two at the same time, either seperately or in the same set... cause I'm sure most people wouldn't want season one. Even fans aren't very fond of the first season, so it probably wouldn't do well and might make them stop putting the series out on DVD.
barwars 07-01-2005, 10:18 PM I really liked Season 1. Not as much as the other years, but it was still very enjoyable.
But then again, I also think Molly Ringwald is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Funny thing was when I watched that first season, Molly was my least favorite of all the girls. Then she went on to success in movies and I became a big fan of hers. I mean I liked her so much in Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink that I went to see The Pickup Artist just because she was in it.

Tootie and Molly were pretty much the same character. It ended up working for the best that Molly was cut.

true, at least I have a few episodes taped. So at least I know I'll be able to watch the show again. It just seems like I've been waiting for them to announce FOL for years and Sony will pick shows like Ned And Stacey that are far more obscure and less obvious to come out while leaving FOL out in the "maybe some day" dept. Sony really sucks when it comes to releasing shows and seeing FOL low on the list makes me wonder if they'll just release one volume (seasons 1 and 2) and then never touch it again, like they did with Just Shoot Me.
Gimme A Break is where I should turn my attention to, that show really needs to come out on DVD IMO, it hasn't been on TV since 1998 but Universal doesn't seem to care much about their comedies outside The Munsters.
spunkygirl 07-01-2005, 11:05 PM I think the only reason Ned and Stacey is getting a release is because Debra Messing and Thomas Haden Church both have great careers right now :)

what's the explanation for That's My Mama? I know Clifton Davis scored well on Amen, but that show ended 14 years ago.

Dean Winchester 07-01-2005, 11:14 PM That one surprised me that it's getting released
well, what shocked me most is that they released both sets on the same day. The only other time Sony has done that was with Seinfeld, but Seinfeld is well, Seinfeld. It's weird that Sony goes all out to finish That's My Mama on the same day on DVD while infinately more popular shows like Who's The Boss, Mad About You and Charlie's Angels are now in release limbo.
PZelda 07-01-2005, 11:35 PM Don't worry. I feel the same way about Warner Bros. and Mama's Family. MF is nearly on the top 10 unreleased list @ TVShowsOnDVD, and it's still not on DVD. :cuss:

Well The Facts of Life is number 6 on that list and still there is no word yet if that show will be released on DVD.
I like DW, but I think since it is airing on Lifetime, Sony shouldn't release it just yet on DVD. They should focus on shows that fans are dying to see since they aren't on air anymore.
Pavan 07-02-2005, 12:41 AM what's the explanation for That's My Mama? I know Clifton Davis scored well on Amen, but that show ended 14 years ago.
I think the explanation on those is that similar shows like Good Times and What's Happening!! have been selling very well. Most of their African American properties have sold well (poor Marla Gibbs though, The Jeffersons and 227 have not sold nearly as well), like Sanford & Son, and the two I mentioned. It is surprising That's My Mama is coming, but I'm sort of not surprised because of the success of GT and WH.

it'll be kind of an odd fit because Good Times, Sanford And Son and What's Happening are all famous shows, TMM not so much. If The Jeffersons and 227 (especially considering Regina King is a hot actress these days) haven't moved so sufficiently, I'd be hardpressed to believe that That's My Mama would be able to do much better because people are familiar with those shows, if it wasn't for Solomon, I wouldn't know That's My Mama existed.
mlingerfelt 07-02-2005, 09:10 AM any word on S2 227 ,WHO,S THE BOSS and SWAT when they will be released.

How do you come across the information on how well a show is selling on DVD?
I'm surprised that The Jeffersons isn't selling well. I don't like that show all that much (All In The Family is way better), but it was on for 10 years and has been shown regularly in reruns.

same here, I have never been a big Jeffersons fan but I'm surprised that a show as big as that cannot much sufficiently on DVD, and it's not like the "it's too expensive" excuse (which was used for Mary Tyler Moore) because it's never retailed above 29.99.
Or is The Jeffersons one of those shows that the general consensus of the fans is that it didn't really get good until a latter point in the show?
mlingerfelt 07-03-2005, 12:31 AM with the success WH had do you think what,s happening now will sell when it is released I hope they release the show in 2006. Do you predict on WB that season sets of wbk and catm are in the works.
Dean Winchester 07-04-2005, 04:20 AM I'm surprised that established Sony shows such as The Jeffersons, Mad About You, Who's The Boss and 227 have failed on DVD yet Tabitha has done well. Who knew there were so many Lisa Hartman fanatics
AtlantaBravesFan29 07-04-2005, 09:49 AM I have a question and a very good question at that.
Why isn't I Dream Of Jeannie on DVD yet?? They should have gotten it out there on DVD by now since Bewitched is on DVD. Why wasn't I Dream Of Jeannie on that list??
spunkygirl 07-04-2005, 11:43 AM I'm surprised that established Sony shows such as The Jeffersons, Mad About You, Who's The Boss and 227 have failed on DVD yet Tabitha has done well. Who knew there were so many Lisa Hartman fanatics
Maybe it's the same thing like with Golden Girls Fans who would buy Golden Palace cause it's like an extension of the show, so maybe Bewitched Fans want Tabitha cause they consider it a kind of an extension of Bewitched. :)
I have a question and a very good question at that.

I thought I read that Sony was gonna wait till the I Dream of Jeannie movie came out to release the show on DVD, kinda like they did with Bewitched.

TV_Fan 07-10-2005, 12:18 AM I think the only weird thing is if Sony decides to follow the poll. They ought to know what shows are wanted. I think someone must really want the Johnny Cash Show on DVD and keeps voting over and over. I honestly don't see how that could go from the bottom to the top in two days.
vashti1999 07-10-2005, 12:45 AM The only thing I can think of is that there are a bunch of fools, I mean people who didn't know anything about the poll until TSOD posted info about it on their site and either everyone who just recently found out about the poll is a Johnny Cash fan or there's some sort of internet campaign to get everyone to vote for it. It had 2.02% the day TSOD posted info on the poll and now two days later it's over 50%? Very weird.

Dean Winchester 07-21-2005, 01:31 PM this list is really messed up. Much like how FOL went from first to nearly last and now it's back to fourth, and how SS went from about sixth to a very close second and now back down to sixth.
I don't necessarily think it's so much how many people are votign for what as it is a few overzealous fans with cleared cookies, explaining why Johnny Cash was originally second to last and then overnight it claimed over 50% of the votes
vashti1999 10-22-2005, 07:31 PM Since the Johnny Cash Collection is postponed/delayed/canceled, and the poll was for what Sony should release next, who else thinks that they should already have the 2nd place vote getter prepared and ready to release? I do (namely because it's One Day At A Time).
