I saw some things someone else recorded recently and there is blank (black screen) before and after the TV show. I don't think it is from the original air of the show due to the length. I use a Panasonic DVD recorder and I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the blank in front and at the end of the show. This helps when copying as you don't cut any of the show off when dividing the show when recording several shows onto the hard drive from another disk.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks

I'll give it a shot;) Are you talking about the black screens that are recorded on tv shows that transition the show to/from commercials? I've edited shows to cut commercials and the black transition screens out. Are these the screens your speaking of? You will not notice them while watching a show - only when you slow it down frame-by-frame.

Yes, those are the screens I am talking about. I have some older shows that do not have those black screens. When I want to make a copy of a DVD, I put it in a player and record it to the hard drive on the Panasonic. Then I have to divide the recording so I can put a menu on the new DVD. Without the black screen between shows, the divide point may be the beginning of the next show. I want to put a black screen in so I will have that as a divide point if I make another copy of the DVD. Any ideas on how to get a black screen that does not exist on the DVD? Thanks

The Pioneer recorders blackout any area of a tape that has bad tracking glitches.
