Hello I am new here, this is my first post. Sally Field is my favorite actress but I am wondering, would Gidget have continued if they had recast it after it was cancelled? I doubt it but what do you think?

Hmmm...I don't know, maybe. I think some people expected the Gidget they saw on TV to be more like Gidget they saw in the movies. Blond hair, blue eyes, the whole Sandra Dee bit.

I LOVE Sally Field as Gidget but I think that this show would have gone on another season if her character weren't named Gidget Lawerence and she didn't have the weight of the Gidget franchise on her back.

I think one mistake the writers made was not making Jeff a bigger part of Gidget's life the way he was in the movies. He should have went to a local college and been apart of Gidget's daily activities. I love the closeness between Russ and Gidget and the squabbles with Anne and John. Two things not in the movies, but wonderful in the series.
