I typed the name "Megan Curl" at a search engine, and came up with this link. The article is nearly two years old, since it is dated July 7, 2003. But's it's the most recent article on the case that I've been able to find.

It mentions that Megan's former boyfriend, Tim Purvis, was a potential suspect in her murder. On June 19, 2003, he died in his sleep after refusing medical treatment for injuries he sustained from a fall.

At the time of the article, the case hadn't been solved. And I'm guessing that the current status is still the same. :(

This really WAS a horrific crime. It sounds like Megan fell into the same category that so many of the young women profiled on UM fall into: They are simply too trusting of their environments and the people around them.

Well this case was truly sad. Burned, bound to a bed if I remember right. I do think the long haired guy with glasses had something to do with this. However I am not sure. Truly whoever did this was very angry, had a lot of rage. I mean to burn someone like that tells you are very angry and it reeks of overkill. Indeed her ex-boyfriend in a truly bizarre incident either jumped or fell from a watertower, somehow he survives, refuses medical treatment and died in his sleep hours later. Just bizarre.

Was the abused wife sent to prison or did she get away with it?

I don't think it ever mentioned if she got away with it, it's kind of a loose end that's not really tied up. They showed her burning the bed both at the start of the movie and the end, but oddly enough I don't think they ever mentioned what happened after that. I would imagine she got away with it by pleading self defense, I believe she reported the abuse and/or tried to get a divorce, but nothing became of it, but there was at least a record of it. Also, I think this has been on Lifetime before, so I would imagine she would have got away with it or else the viewers would have been pissed.

I think she went to the same college I'm attending. I'm fuzzy on details, maybe I'll have to track down a copy and watch it again.
