Has anyone dealt with this guy:

psmstrat2001@yahoo.com

He has a lot of ultra rare sets and goes by PSMS Studios.

Thanks,

Raman

I found this. He/she registered on this site below just over a week ago.

Ok...I got another email regarding some shows i was interested in. I asked for Screenshots and Feedback from this guy. He sent me some decent screenshots but the feedback seemed bogus to me. He listed out some International emails and the others seemed like fake email addresses.

I'm not sure about this...so let me know what happens Agent 13 or anyone else.

Email a couple of them and see what they say about him. Be up front and tell them that they were given as a reference by him. (1) Did they trade with him and (2) If so, were they satisfied with what they got from him.

I find it strange that none of those addresses have any google hits. You'd think one of them would have something.

This may not mean anything, but 2 of those email addresses have guitar names in the email address (peavey and 75strat). He could be a musician that creates email addresses using different guitar names (all his own), or he frequents people in music circles. Just an observation.

I think Lisa Mailman being on the prowl for more victims has everyone on the defensive. I know most people are honest, but people like her really mess up things for those newbies who are really honest.

Don't forget, this all started with the San Francisco scammer who was exposed a little while back. Then we found out about Lisa's new things. Then there is that other thing that I won't mention because if I do my inbox will be flooded with ramblings....

Mel,

 Thank you so much for sharing this information. I was a little concerned with the "studio" part of the email address, but couldn't put my finger on anything in particular. Brazil would have been a good give-away, though.

No problem. Love to help out any way I can and hope the favor is returned when I do a trader check. That is what trading is all about. Trying to help each other out.

I of course replied to Alberto and picked out 3 sets but he has never responded since. So it just goes to show ya he is not "doin great deals" as he states. I was just someone else he wanted to rip off to add a notch on his belt so to speak.

Thanks Mel,

I really appreciate this you save me a great deal of trouble. I was really suspicious on his sets because he has all the rare ones we are all looking for: Small Wonder, Full House, Gimme A Break, etc.

So thanks to this board i have been saved twice in the last two days.

Thanks again.

Tina,
Sorry to hear that this happened to you. This guy tried to get me through perris studios as well. I did a trader check on him here and think goodness Agent 13 helped me out. I wish you had found this thread before hand.

Unfortunately I found out after I sent the money. I ran a google search on him before I paid him and couldn't find anything. I know I shouldn't have sent the money, but he claimed to have something I wanted so bad!
But hopefully we can prevent others from sending money to him!
That was the first time it happened to me, I've sent so much to traders and always received my stuff.

This guy looks like a serial scammer."

Yeah, no kidding. This, ladies 'n gentlemen, is the infamous Brazilian scammer. He goes by dozens of phoney names, but it's the same guy, always from Brazil -- used to go by the moniker hardheavydvds. He's been ripping people off for at least 10 years that I know of.

His current phoney names are: PSMS STUDIOS and perrisstudios.

Rules of thumb to identify scammers:

"No small trades." Require the guy to do a small trade for 1 or 2 DVDs to check hi/r quality. If they refuse, SCAMMER. I've been trading for 26 years, and I'll always do a small 1 or 2 disc trade at first to let you check my video quality.

"I won't send first." Require the guy to send 1 DVD first. If they refuse, SCAMMER.

"I've got ridiculously rare stuff." If the guy claims to have all sorts of stuff nobody else has on DVD or VHS, like HOT L BALTIMORE *and* the lost episodes of Amos And Andy *and* all 32 episodes of My Living Doll *and* the complete run of Finder Of Lost Loves *and* the complete run of The Conspiracy Zone, SCAMMER.

"My references all have similar weird e-mail return addresses." Saw a scammer recently who gave a bunch of references that all turned out to be names of guitars -- Strat76, Fender87, etc. With some packet-sniffing, it turned out all the "references" were phoney sock-puppet aliases for the scammer himself.

"My last e-mail was from canada but this e-mail is from Brazil because [complicated and incoherent explanation]." If a guy e-mailing you to do a trade constantly switches e-mail addresses, especially among different countries, SCAMMER.

"You have to send me a Western Union money order." SCAMMER

some good points, but i have exceptions to the points

i found a couple trade sources that have stupid amounts of great and rare stuff, that no one else has

neither is a scammer, just very private and selective

there are people that think i have too much stuff to be legit

as far as sending first, i will no longer do that under any situation--if i dont know or know of the trader

small trades, i will not do that either, it costs the same amount of postage for me to ship 2 discs as it does to ship 60, i go priority and del con on each one. a two disc trade just isnt worth it,

yes i will drop the occasional sample into a regular trade if there is a question on the quality

the western union is a absolute red flag, if you purchase --use paypal, and if possible buy the extra insurance from paypal, it will save you in the long run

I Sent PSMS Studios $70 dollars through Paypal about a month and a half ago. I didnt hear anything forever. Finally I emailed him again and he said he'd send my order to me in about 3-4 days and needless to say about 2 weeks down the line I still have nothing. Plus now he wont even return my emails. So this guy is definately a scam artist. I wish I wouldve found this board about a month and a half ago. Like the one guy said I checked google search and there was nothing but now I find a bunch of stuff. It sucks some people have to be so freakin dishonest. I dont have a job right now but I scraped up the money for the few sets I really wanted he had and now im broke and TV showless. Keep a eye out for this guy. Trust me, there is no truth at all to this guys credability.

You have to make a claim within 30 days. If it was not an Ebay transaction (like this), they do not guarantee recovery. They do make an effort to get your money back for you though.
