View Full Version : The best movie about a horse
Brad Russ 06-15-2005, 06:12 AM I sort of wish I could vote for two, because Iv'e been going back and forth between Seabiscuit, and The Black Stallion. I think though I'm going to go with Seabiscuit. I loved the story of how a Nation went into a great depression, and how an undersized horse named Seabiscuit came along, and gave all the people who had lost everything hope for the first time in a long time. I thought the ending of this movie, was one of the most touching Iv'e ever seen!! What is your favorite horse movie??
ponytail 06-15-2005, 06:53 AM I loved Seabiscuit, it was a great movie. Hidalgo was a pretty good movie and The Black Stallion I haven't seen in years but I remember it being a beautifully told story.

I agree with you on The Black Stallion. Visually, as well as storywise, it was absolutely beautiful. I know Mickey Rooney got a much deserved Oscar nomination for his role in the film, but I'm not sure whether or not the cinemotographer did. If not, he got robbed, because he definitely deserved one.
I agree with you on Hidalgo as well. It was pretty good, but definitely didn't measure up to the other two in my view. I thought the middle of the film was boring at parts, but thought the ending was awesome!!
~*Emma*~ 06-15-2005, 08:17 AM I've only seen Seabiscuit, but I really loved it. :D

Hawkee 09-02-2025, 04:21 AM I LOVE horse movies and have a whole bunch of them including Seabiscuit and The Black Stallion but one horse movie I really enjoyed was a movie called Orphan Horse and that movie is so touching about a girl who raises a horse actually nicknamed Orphan "because the girl doesn't know the horse's actual name" and it's actually a sweet story. Another movie that also is my favorite is Flicka and Flicka is such a wonderful movie that teaches you that no matter that if you can't do something do not be afraid to take a chance on a dream. As the character Katy discovers when trying to tame Flicka and teaching Flicka the basics of training. How Tim McGraw got to be in Flicka i'll never know? Because for a country singer he can act so well and the end title song of Flicka My Little Girl is such a wonderful song sung marvelous by Tim McGraw. There is also two other Flicka movies Flicka 2 with Clint Black and Flicka Country Pride and Flicka is a movie worth checking out
Dude111 09-02-2025, 06:51 AM Thank you Hawk,Ill have to look for Orphan Horse!!
Hawkee 10-08-2025, 04:31 AM Did you ever see the movie Misty? It was based on the book Misty Of Chincoteague and talks about how Misty came to be and the famous pony roundup and auction. I have most of the Misty books and was surprised to see this movie
Dude111 10-08-2025, 09:37 AM No I havent but I have seen THE HORSE WHISPERER I believe :)
Hawkee 10-09-2025, 05:22 AM Isn't The Horse Whisperer that movie with Robert Redford that was based on the book of the same name? I remember my mom getting that movie by accident but she traded it for You've Got Mail. Is The Horse Whisperer supposed to be really good?
Dude111 10-09-2025, 09:39 AM Ya its ok,I would recommend it Hawk....
Bonniegirl 10-09-2025, 03:29 PM I voted other . Francis the talking mule movies were so funny. Even though Francis was a mule, that's in the horse family.

Hawkee 11-24-2025, 04:02 AM Have you heard of the movie Virginia's Run? It was a horse movie starring Gabriel Byrne and it's about a girl who really wants to keep her horse after her horse causes an accident. I had never heard of this movie until I found it in Walmart and Virginia's Run is a good horse movie
