View Full Version : It's stunning that this board is not active because the show was in the top ten for TVFactFan 06-14-2005, 04:16 PM 7 years straight. I just knew this board would be very active. I guess i was wrong. Vegas Girl 06-23-2005, 08:44 PM I've always wondered the same thing. Plus, the show is on several times a day! Superstar 07-16-2005, 05:53 AM Well the Friends board is also dead, its only really current sitcoms that are active TVFactFan 07-16-2005, 10:49 AM Well the Friends board is also dead, its only really current sitcoms that are active I'm surprised that both Home Improvement and the Friends board are dead since both shows currently air on TBS Brian Damage 07-16-2005, 12:11 PM While Home Improvement was a top 10 show during its original run, I don't think it has fared well in syndication. spunkygirl 07-19-2005, 06:54 PM I thought HI did well in syndication? Yeah alot of older sitcoms' boards are dead :( Sophia's Wrinkles 08-02-2005, 04:56 AM A lot of Home Improvement fans were girls who idolized the boys on the show. They have since moved on, I presume. McFly121 08-07-2005, 03:30 AM Here's the deal.... First off, current shows are not the only hot boards. Go to the Three's Company board and you'll find a million current threads. The thing with HI is that is has no lore or backstory that fans can delve into. "Cheers" had a former drunk ballplayer now owning a bar; "Friends" had these old friends coming back into each others lives after off-camera high school and college stuff; something new like "Lost" has all this backstory to the characters. With HI, nobody cares how Tim and Jill met, or how Tim started Tool Time before HI started. And the kids have no history because they're....well, kids. The episodes never kept a continuity or character folklore that fans could forever delve into. "Cheers" fans love to ask "Rebecca or Diane", "Did Sam ever drink on camera?", "What are the lyrics to the 'Kelly' song?". HI has nothing like that, it followed a standard sitcom route, family goes thru stuff, audience laughs. Plus, though these boards are fun, it isn't exactly a mecca teeming with people to throw stuff around with. |
