View Full Version : Has this ever worked?
harmony03 06-13-2005, 06:38 PM Hi Shannon,
Thank you for taking time to email OMNI Television.
The reason OMNI TV(and other television stations) will stop airing a
programme is either because the entire series has been aired, usually
several times, and the broadcast rights have expired, or because it was not
commercially viable (i.e. not enough viewers).
Nevertheless, we recognize that there are still a lot of loyal "Head of the
Class" fans out there. Perhaps a search on the internet will lead you to
the information on where it is currently playing.
Good luck!
We appreciate your interest and hope that you will feel free to contact us
again if you've any further questions about OMNI Television and its
programming.
Regards,
OMNI Television

TripperFan 06-13-2005, 06:49 PM I've heard it has - there was a couple of shows they were going to cancel in the past (Twin Peaks being one of them) but if they got enough fans requesting it be kept on, they'll bend.
OMNI isn't that big either so they might well keep it. I'd advise you to get as many people as you can emailing or phoning them to help you out.
I wasn't happy when the dropped The Hogans! Good luck!
harmony03 06-13-2005, 07:05 PM Hey TripperFan, I'm from "Trawnna" too! No, OMNI doesn't show HOTC - I just thought they might, since they show older shows like Cheers and Quincy. Sigh. I need an Eric Mardian fix.
harmony03 06-14-2005, 04:43 PM Me again. There are more stations around Toronto, southern Ontario and Buffalo to try. If anyone is in this area, care to join me in sending some nice, not-to-desperate emails to the stations? I'm off to write!

Hey "Homie" nice to have another Trawnna-ite around - the closest I've met is the Modfather in Newmarket!
Have you tried CKVR maybe. I can't see City going for it, but as you say, surrounding stations in Barrie, Hamilton and Barffalo might! We've got satellite as well as cable and I haven't even seen it on there even.
harmony03 06-14-2005, 05:06 PM Good suggestions! I've just yesterday written to the NewVR in Barrie, think I'll try YTV, CHCH in Hamilton, and WUTV in Buffalo.

Or PBS in Barffalo - tell 'em you'll donate $50 (Canadian of course), they can keep their crummy totebag as long as they start airing HOTC!
Good luck!
Jennyluvver 06-15-2005, 12:53 AM You could try mailing CTS, the religious station.
www.ctstv.com
They have aired Charles in Charge, Mr. Belevedere, Growing Pains, the Hogan Family, Family Ties, Happy Days and the Wonder Years. I am surprised they haven't aired Head of the Class, since they love family shows with good messages. I tried e-mailing them last year and they didn't mail me back. Maybe if they get more e-mails they will start considering it.

harmony03 06-15-2005, 08:08 PM As HOTC went on, the humour became more sexual, so I didn't bother contacting the Christian network. Otherwise, there might be a good chance, since they do show 80s stuff. Thanks for the idea, though. Yay, you're from Toronto, eh?

Dear Shannon:
Thank you for the email. Sorry, we will not be airing Head of the Class and at this time we do not plan on acquiring the rights to air it.

OK, I'm not getting very far. I feel like such a geek, begging stations to play a sitcom from the 80s! My love knows no bounds, however:) On to the next station!
Jennyluvver 06-22-2005, 03:25 AM I live in London, Ontario but we get CTS here too. You know, Charles in Charge had some sexual humour too, and so did Growing Pains. I wouldn't let that stop me. HOTC is a great show with family morals and values, I think you should still e-mail them like I did! I think they are your best bet. Couldn't hurt to try right? Besides if they are really offended by an episode, they will just cut it out of the run, like they did with a few Mr. Belvedere episodes.
harmony03 06-22-2005, 08:14 PM Thanks for the feedback. You're right - I'm going to use the link you posted. I'm still waiting to hear from Fox in Buffalo, but they might not respond at all. Have you emailed CTS lately? It'll be great if they get a couple of requests :)
harmony03 06-23-2005, 03:47 PM OK, here's the latest:
Hi there,
Thanks for the e-mail. Currently, the show you are asking about is not included in our program schedule. At YTV, our Programming Department reviews hundreds of programs prior to making any decisions regarding our schedule. We believe that our schedule should provide a variety of programs which appeal to our wide variety of viewers. While we do continually strive to make all of our viewers happy, as a national network, it can be challenging.
If you are inquiring about a series that used to be on YTV but isn't anymore, we hope you can understand that it is not uncommon for broadcasters to modify program schedules and move shows to new timeslots or remove programs to introduce new shows. Be assured that all schedule changes are the result of careful consideration and are made with our viewers in mind.
With this said, we will forward your suggestion to our Programming Department for future consideration. In the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy the entertaining programs that YTV has to offer!
For more details and information about our current schedule, check out our web schedule at http://www.ytv.com/programming/guide/guide-EASTERN-9.asp . Please remember all schedules are subject to change without notice.

Thank you for your suggestion. We'll keep it in mind as we continue to
plan our schedule.
Not too exciting, eh? At least these two stations didn't say "no" :)
realchic1999 06-23-2005, 04:56 PM Who called Buffalo "Barffalo"?! Funny.
I'm from there, but I cannot campaign for a station to play it there anymore because I'm moving South and it wouldn't make sense for me to promote a city I will no longer live in.
But I definitely would like to see it on a local station to where I move to.
Jennyluvver 06-25-2005, 02:58 AM That's great you got a response from CTS. They didn't e-mail me back at all for some reason when I tried last year! Anyway, this should ensure they are considering it as they should be thinking about what programs to put on next season.
harmony03 06-26-2005, 11:24 AM Hmmm...don't suppose you'd consider emailing them again? I think Rob Sheppard is director of programming, but his email addy is rsheppard@ctstv.com. My hope is if a Cdn station airs HOTC, then Americans in places like Seattle, Detroit, places near the border, will also be able to enjoy it.
Jennyluvver 06-29-2005, 02:09 AM Well, I thought about mailing them again, but I'm afraid they might think we are bombarding them or something, lol. I'm really glad you e-mailed them though.
harmony03 06-29-2005, 06:51 PM I getcha. "OMG, we've been targeted by crazed 80s-loving nerds!"
Jennyluvver 07-05-2005, 02:49 AM Lol, I do hope they put it on though!
Classicshowsgurl15 07-06-2005, 05:39 PM I live in California and we don't get CTS. I wish we did because I love Happy Days and Growing Pains.
