View Full Version : HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heart Shaped Box 06-12-2005, 12:25 PM Right now I am so mad at my mother. I asked her again today if I could purchase a DVD, and she said no again. I have $150 saved right now from my birthday money, and she asked me how much the DVD was. I told her that the Season 4 DVD was $23 dollars. We got into thie fight and she was telling me that I already taped a bunch of episodes from Season 4, so why do I need the DVD? I told her that there's a bunch of episodes they don't show on TVLand, missing tag scenes, and a bunch of extras.
Well, this is what really makes me mad that I just want to punch a hole in the wall. She told me to think about this for a few days, and pick one DVD to buy, because she won't let me buy another DVD for 6 - 8 MONTHS!!!
So, I need you guys to help me pick one good DVD that will last me for those months. God, I HATE my mother! You guys don't know how lucky you are. You can get any DVD's of John you want. But no, I can't get anything.
Janet Tripper 06-12-2005, 12:27 PM Aww!:( That stinks girly! I hope she changes her mind.
Heart Shaped Box 06-12-2005, 12:28 PM Aww!:( That stinks girly! I hope she changes her mind.
I'm %100 sure she won't unless I do something spectacular that will change her mind.
I Love John Ritter 06-12-2005, 12:51 PM I would get season 4, because that has a bunch of episodes. I know you were thinking about "Real Men", but if you want a DVD that will last you 6-8 months, then season 4 is the best way to go since it has a bunch of episode, and "Real Men" is just one movie. Maybe you could get "Real Men" on eBay later on since they're usually cheaper there? Or, if you buy one from a seller on Amazon they have pretty good prices too. Maybe your mom will let you get it later once she sees the prices. Good luck.
Moonlight Lady 06-12-2005, 12:56 PM That sucks!...I'm really sorry Chels. :( Here's a couple options.
Buy Season 4 now and then don't buy anymore dvd's til October, maybe she'll change her mind by the time 5 comes out and she'll let you buy it.
Buy season 4 now, Put Season 5 on your christmas list. By the time Christmas rolls around, six months have gone by. If you don't get it for Christmas, you can always get after Christmas, like on vacation or something.
If I ever have kids, i'm going to encourage them to buy Three's Company dvds

Ok, thanks so much for helping. It sucks for me so bad and I'm still mad, but I think Season 4 would be a good choice also. But in 6 - 8 months, a ton of other JR DVD's will be out, and I'll just be further behind in getting his DVD's.

Thanks so much Katie! I think I can do that. I told her though that Season 5 would already be out before 6-8 months. I guess the only way I could get her to get me another DVD early is if I save someone's life or something..
Man, if you ever want kids, PLEASE ADOPT ME!
Number 9 Dream 06-12-2005, 01:13 PM Hey,
I agree with what everyone said here-- just get Season 4 first. Plus, you don't know how long it'll be around and you want to get all the seasons, right? I'd go with Season 4 then.
Plus, she never said you couldn't get other DVDs as gifts

Thanks for the help Kristel. But who would I get the gifts from? No holidays are coming up except for Christmas.
Number 9 Dream 06-12-2005, 02:02 PM You could just "happen" to receive a gift from your friends at school ;) Buy it yourself, wrap it, and claim your friends gave it to you as a gift..LOL just because they love you

Terri Cardellini 06-12-2005, 02:07 PM Oh wow you're mom is really against you watching TC huh... My dad watches it with me because he likes it just as much, so he buys the dvd's for BOTH of us lol

I think that's a good idea. That was what I would say. I mean if she knows that you've waiting 4 months already then maybe that will be enough for her. Besides a lot could happen in 4 months. Maybe she'll even change her mind before then.

You send me Joyce and I'll send you all the DVDs you want. ;)
Seriously, too bad you have to wait. :(

My parents like it too. I love it that my parents let me watch it as a kid.
I would love to have the movie Hero At Large. I can remember watching it when I was like 10 or 11 and it was good.

If you're serious about the Joyce thing, I'll start looking for her now! :D
Yeah I know it sucks. Only one DVD to hold me down for 6 months. Life just isn't fair..

I would love to have the movie Hero At Large. I can remember watching it when I was like 10 or 11 and it was good.Yeah my mom will watch TC with me sometimes. But not the SS episodes. She says that as soon as we get a dvd player she wants us to get the TC dvd's.
I'm so sorry Chelsea that you're mom is acting like this!! Maybe you can do some stuff around the house or do something to help her out. And then after that, talk to her about how it's YOUR money. Explain that you have been working really hard and that you earn it. That's what I do with my mother. Hang in there honey!! :bighug: If it makes you feel better, I don't have any of the Three's Company dvd's or any of John's old movies, or his comedy special...so you're lucky you have them! ;) We're all here for ya girl! Sometimes parents just don't understand teen girls and the things they go through. Trust me, it's like a battle everyday between my mother and me!

Haven't you taped any episodes?

Yeah I taped the episodes, but not all of the episodes. I like the DVD's better, because there's tag scenes and extras. I guess I'll have to wait for a while..

 That's funny you'd say that - I was telling my husband about your problem and he said, "you should tell her to come live with us!" - he's got a huge DVD collection and loves any excuse to buy more! He'd be worse than ever with someone encouraging him! We also have 3 big screen t.v.s (50", 53" & 65" HD widescreen with plans to get a 50" plasma soon).
We'll adopt ya if Katie can't and you don't mind a move out of the country!

You're on! It's actually not more expensive up here - the exchange rate takes care of that. And even IF things look more expensive, our wages are usually also higher for equivalent jobs. It's basically the same standard of living - you wouldn't miss that. ;)

Well, come down to Canada anyway! There's plenty of room! :D
Fleet 06-12-2005, 11:51 PM I think I'll stay right here in California, so I can keep enjoying the Simi Hills (that's in Chatsworth).

TripperFan 06-13-2005, 09:46 AM Here's a pic from the Forks of the Credit - a river with rapids at the bottom of Caledon Mountain - we live at the top of the mountain behind "Devil's Pulpit" - a private golfcourse built by the guys who invented Trivial Pursuit (I think one of them still owns it).
TripperFan 06-13-2005, 09:48 AM And here's another trail in the local area in summertime.
(I wish I could get one of the hills and Niagara Escarpment, but I can't find one at the moment)

It's really amazing just how much unspoiled wilderness we still have just outside the city. Downtown Toronto is about 50 minutes away.
Moonlight Lady 06-13-2005, 10:06 AM I wish we had more of that around, it's turning into a great big development.

Luckily we're at the edge of the Niagara Escarpment and its a protected bio-shpere - protected from too much development! There are gravel pits around, but they must be surrounded by landscaping and trees to hide them - you'd barely know they were here. They tried to have them expanded about 5 years ago and it was halted in it's tracks by the residents. It really is a little piece of heaven.
And what I like, is that if we do want the shopping and nightlife of the city, its all only about a half hour drive away.

Oh, that's not bad, Albany is about 20 minutes away from where I live, but i'm not into going out at nights. I'm a real homebody, it's nice to know it's there though. :)
Kristen J. 06-13-2005, 11:22 AM Those pics look a lot like Nebraska!! :D

I'll try to find some of the rapids themselves. I'll post one of a inn that's a couple of miles away from me - it was an old feed mill they converted. I'll post a pic of the table we usually get when we go there. Its really high-end dining and beautiful at night when they light up the falls.
Kristen - yes - there are a lot of areas in Canada that look similar to Nebraska. Also the Poconos. I'd love to see some of the Rockies and our East Coast - Newfoundland is quite wild and beautiful.
btw - I went out to put some pucks in the pool this morning and was greeted by a friendly raccoon. He climbed a tree and watched me peering out between branches of a tree. At least he's not living in our pool shed like they were a couple of years ago - what a mess!

 It REALLY is a beautiful country! I know the States is too, but there are areas all around me that just take your breath away - especially in autumn! That's one of the reasons I am a proud Canadian.
The last time I had lunch at the Millcroft at that table, we watched a beaver waddle across the breakwater you see there below and head for his dam - on the far right (tough to see in that pic tho). It was in early November and I guess he was getting ready for the winter. You should see the spa they have there too - and loft rooms. People will come up for weekend getaways from Toronto all the time. Great salmon fishing at the Forks (I'm so frustrated that I can find a pic of them for you).
All that when the weather's great, and when it isn't - here's where you can find us!

Wow, that's a big TV! I forget what size inch we have..I think it's a 44 inch or something like that in the living room.
Yeah, I heard that Canada has the best fishing ever. My great-grandfather used to tell me and my brother stories about when he used to go fishing up there when he was younger. He even has this picture of a lake down there in Canada - I think the picture was made out of thread though!

 That's the HD widescreen in our home theatre room (the room was a bit torn apart that day tho! ) Then we have another in the family room and the "portable" (the 51") in an upstairs bedroom (that we converted to a weight room).
Oh yeah - I can see your great-grandfather coming up for the fishing. And hunting - Ted Nugent comes up all the time (although I'm not big on it myself).

That's nice - a family tradition! I think we're a little more laid back here - especially in certain parts of the country. Everyone loves the Newfies and they're the most hospitable, friendly and down to earth people you could ever meet! ;)
