View Full Version : Sonny / I Do I Do
Squiggy 08-31-2000, 01:50 AM This is a question for those who have seen "I Do I Do" (125).
One of the mysteries of the show is the disappearance of Sonny. He is in episode 124 but was removed from the credits in episode 126. So it is possible that he was written out of the show and many of us just never knew about it since "I Do I Do" is between these two episodes. Could someone clear this up for me?
Thanks.
LaverneShirley 08-31-2000, 04:46 PM Ed Marinaro was only supposed to be in 13 episodes (I don't know whther that's counting his guest star role on "Antonio the Amazing" or not), and he wasn't in I Do I Do, I haven't seen it, but I have a script copy.

"Well, Laverne is sort of childish"
"Childish? Childish? COming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!"
"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!"
"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!"
Squiggy 09-02-2000, 08:57 PM Thanks for the info, LaverneShirley. It just seemed weird that they would give him such a big part in the show only to remove his character after less than one season.
Titania 09-04-2000, 06:23 PM Im new to the site but i have seen I do I do! (Long story how i got to see it) I can say that no, Sonny isn't in I Do, I Do and I haven't a clue why they didn't write him off at all. Also I would like to say that there's something wrong with having the actor that played Laverne's cousin play her boyfriend a few episodes later!!
RussJohnsonsProfessorGirl 09-04-2000, 10:01 PM Actually, I do, I do IS number 126.

Squiggy 09-05-2000, 04:22 PM Are you sure about this? N@N's episode guide < http://www.nick-at-nite.com/tvretro/shows_nan/laverneshirley/epi5.tin> shows that "I Do I Do" is #125 and "But Seriously Folks" is #126. ("To Tell the Truth" is #124)
Since a few of you have seen "I Do I Do", how is it? Would you say that it is one of the better California episodes?
Thanks
Squiggy 09-05-2000, 04:23 PM The link above doesnt work.

RussJohnsonsProfessorGirl 09-07-2000, 05:22 PM Actually NAN's episode number are off, I Do, I Do could in reality be 130 for all we know. But, 9/10 sites DO say 126.

Titania 09-07-2000, 09:04 PM Lets see how well I remeber I do, I do (dont feel like dragging out the tapes tonite and it wasn't that memorable of an eppy) But I'll try to sum it up for those of you who haven't seen it. Lets see, L & S wait on these british rock stars at Coyboy Bills and they invite them to this party, (correct me if im wrong but I think they find out that they can save money or something if they marry american girls) So they go to this party and the band plays some cheesy songs (Your love love love fits me like a glove glove glove...) And Lenny and Squiggy show up at the party. Lenny and Squiggy get high on marijuana (this is the best part of the episode!) And Laverne wants to try it but Shirley goes crazy about the drugs and suggests they eat brownies instead. After eating the tray of brownies it is found out that the brownies had marijuana in them too. The girls are completly high on it and agree to marry the rock stars. They end up at this cheep wedding chappel and come very close to marrying them.
It really isn't that good of an episode and I can see why N@N wont air it, but Lenny and Squiggy high on marijuana at the party is a pretty memorable scene!!
Squiggy 09-08-2000, 09:02 PM Thanks for the info, ProfessorGirl and Titania.
About the episode numbers: it's possible that the episode guide at N@N and the one at Lavenny Land are both correct or near correct. One could be the order that they were originally shown on ABC (probably N@N's guide) and the other could be the order that they were created (probably Lavenny's guide).
I looked at your episode guide quickly because I was curious about what you said about "I Do I Do" not being episode 125. While looking at the guide, I noticed something odd. In the last season, "The Note" is not listed as the first Shirley-less episode and "The Baby Show" is listed before "The Note".
Since it was mentioned that Shirley already moved away in "The Baby Show", it is not possible that the episode could had been played before "The Note" but it is possible that it could had been created before "The Note" (It was mentioned on TJ's Happy Days's site that this was occasionally the case in the order of certain Happy Day's episodes. They were not played in the order that they were filmed".)
