If the castaways ever got involved in serious relationships, I would guess it would go like this...

Of course Mr. & Mrs. Howell, Gilligan & Mary Ann, and ironically, I think the Skipper & Ginger would actually make a better couple than The Professor and Ginger. I think the Professor would become so engrossed in science, Ginger would finally say, "Oh, you're just a big bore!".

lol I've always gone for Gilligan and Mary Ann, Professor and Ginger, and of course the Howells, cuz they're married! Although, I am more of an MAG fan than I am a Proffy/G fan. :happyface

I think of it like this:

Mary Ann and Professor, Skipper and Ginger, and the Howells.

I just don't see the girls ever finding Gilligan handsome or sexy, only because he's my least favorite castaway and I don't find him handsome or sexy at all.

Plus, the two girls are SO much more intelligent and mature than Gilligan is... even Ginger!

I think the Professor would come around once he fell head-over-heels in love with someone. I don't see him falling in love with Ginger, however, because she is so self-centered and difficult.

But I DO see the Professor and Mary Ann falling in love with each other. Mary Ann has the smarts and the ability to learn if given the opportunity and having a great teacher in the Professor, she would absorb information very quickly and completely.

Once she found out how much she excelled in academia, it would boost her confidence and thus make her feel less intimidated around the Professor. The Professor would then start to fall in love with her the more he saw of her potential and how much she liked to learn.

In a nutshell, the Professor would give Mary Ann a lot more attention and Mary Ann would, in turn, blossom. Then the two would fall in love with each other and become best friends and lovers as well as scientists.

In addition, Russell Johnson was very athletic when he was younger and excelled in most sports. As a result, I see Roy being the same way... more well-rounded than most people would think. And Mary Ann was always concerned with fitness and seemed to enjoy it!

That's just one of my theories on how the Professor and Mary Ann would become a couple on the island.

Hugs,

Sheri

Hi,Sheri!

I love your story,it's make alot of sense.

I recall in the ep:The Matchmaker.Mary Ann said that she didn't have
anything in commun with the professor but, when she mentionned Gilligan .
She smiled:)Gilligan & Mary Ann's matchmaking was supposed to work.
The censur wouldn't permit it because they weren't unchapperon on
an island.I read this in Bob Denver's book.

So,I guess the other couple on the island would been Gilligan & Mary Ann.

MAG? Wtf??

lol, Munsters#1, when we write Gilligan's Island Fanfiction, MAG is short for Mary Ann/Gilligan pairings. Like GP means Ginger/Professor and MAP is for Mary Ann/Professor.

Hmmmm Well, in the movies, Maryann had a boy friend that waited for her all those years, but...in reality, theres no doubt that the castaways would have paired up..the prob being, not enough women for the men,,,So......
I figure Gilligan would start up with Maryann who would soon tire of him cause hes so stupid, but, she couldnt see herself with that "old man" , the Skipper.... During that time, Ginger would be after the Professor, but, his lack of interest in anything but science would soon cool that relationship...Ginger might consider Gilligan briefly , but decide hes just too much like a brother to her; now, she couldn't go after the Skipper, too granfatherly; however, despite his age, Mr Howell has the money, and her golddigger instincts would quicky kick in. In no time at all, she and Howell would be having an affair, and soon afterwards, Lovey, in a peak of jealousy would be sharing a cot wth the Skipper, forcing Gilligan to make a new hut for himself, where, lonely and depressed, he'd start smoking the weird leaves on the island to forget, and eventually, in a daze would walk into the laggoon and drown.... By this time , the Prof would realise things are falling apart on the island and he'd secretly escape in the night. You see, he had the ability to escape the island all along, but pretended to be incompetent on PURPOSE, because the island was such a great place to do research undisturbed; however, with everyone on the island on edge, he couldnt do his work, so he got into his one person escape boat ( made from palm fronds and fruit tree sap ) and left.... Now , with the Prof and Gilligan gone, Maryann decides maybe the Skipper isnt so bad after all, but, how to get him away from Mrs Howell? In her fevered little mind, Maryann would formulate a plan..of murder..,,I shan't go into details but, let's just say that Mr. Howell would, in a fit of guilt , stand between his estranged wife and MA just in time to receive a fatal dagger ( made from a sharpened bone ) blow to the chest... Seeing the man she used to love dying in front of her, a contrite Mrs Howell takes the dagger and plunges it into Maryann; then, herself! 3 Years later, the Island is bought by Hotel developers who, scouting the island for suitable sites find the only 3 survivours , The Skipper , Ginger, and their baby girl Gilliganette--- The end !

Mr. and Mrs Howell are an obvious pair.
The matchmaker episode showed definite signs Mary Ann and Gilligan should be a pair. Similar ages and likes (rock music for one).
I'm sure Ginger would find big strong men an attraction and the Skipper fits that bill. There was a chemistry in the miss castaway episode.
Unfortunately for the Professor, he misses out. I doubt he would be too concerned, he never seemed like the terribly romantic sort anyway. The castaways present episode tends to bear this out.
