because when Mike and Gloria leave out the door, it's at that exact moment of the series when you can clearly see it was coming to an end. As a viewer, you knew that you would never see the Jeffersons come through the Bunkers Door again, No more strecth Cunningham, No more lorenzos coming through the door, and then Mike and Gloria moves to California and at that moment when Archie cried, I was unable to stop myself from getting teary eyed.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and always get the same lump - especially when Mike and Archie are saying goodbye.

The ending is also a real downer. You can almost tell by the looks on Edith and Archie that that's the end of the real laughter - and it was. :(

That should have been the Finale instead of coming back the next season and adding a kid to the cast.

I agree, that would've been the perfect ending.

Yup - it really would have been.

I tried watching a few eps with the kid and just couldn't handle it. That was it for me. I still can't watch beyond that it reruns. And the visit to California was even worse! They just should have gone out gracefully.

I agree 100% with everyone! "The Stivics go west" should have been the final episode, and they should never have continued the series with Stefanie!

I don't even watch any of the episodes with her, or without Mike & Gloria in the show.

Stefanie was very out of place. She REALLY stuck out like a sore thumb. This also started the "mellowing" of Archie's character. They were beginning to change him into a "Grandpa" type of guy.

I started crying when Edith said goodbye to Mike. I always hoped for more interaction there.

I also cant believe it was 5 years with that girl (w ABP).
