Good Times before. Do you agree that Uncle Phil and Will was the James and J.J of the 1990's? I always saw them that way because you had Uncle Phil the true straight man and goofy Will. And Uncle Phil would give Will mean stares like James did J.J. Which is why i always found it interesting when John Amos make a guest appearance on Fresh Prince. So for those of you who watched Good times, do you agree that Uncle Phil and Will were similar to James and J.J?

I disagree. Uncle Phil was an uptight snob. James was temperamental and proud. J.J. was a unfunny annoying clown. Will was a clown in a cool way. Wil Smith was being himself on the show. He was his character in real life. J.J. tried too hard. But to answer your question, No Will and Phil was not the James and J.J. of the 90's.

I was just talking about when they were together. Uncle Phil would tell Will to shut Up with a Mean Look just like James would do with J.J.

Uncle Phil and Will were much better characters than James and J.J., but I can see the similarity between the two.

He was funnier. He made me laugh more.

In the episode where Will and Carlton strip, and then sell Vivian's necklace, or something like that, and Uncle Phil is just laughing and playing along with Will and Carlton as they think they are going to get off the hook, and Will says something like "it worked for the Beav", Uncle Phil then jumps up and shouts "do I look like a white guy named Ward?!"

If you haven't seen it yet, it's the funniest moment of the entire series.

I disagree with the idea that Will and Uncle Phil is comparable to JJ and James. I see the characters very different. Will and Uncle Phil lived in Beverly Hills and dealt with issues of the upper-class while JJ and James dealt with issues of the ghetto and being poor. I just don't really see it. Maybe I shouldn't look so deep into like that.

Do you realize how STUPID you sound? First of All, I was comparing the personalities of the characters. James played the straight man to J.J's Goofiness and would give him a mean stare and Uncle Phil played straight man to Will's Goofiness and would also give him a mean stare. No one never said anyting about their Financial situation. I"M NOT COMPARING the SHOWS, only the characters. Next Time Read the post before responding.
