View Full Version : No hope for One Day fans?
seventies_sitcoms 06-08-2005, 05:03 PM Well, it doesn't look like ODAAT is going to be on TV Land. It looks like What's Happening is going to be on. Are there any more plans for any different shows over there? Does anybody know? I still thought there was one more title to be announced for 2006, but I'm not sure.
Hopefully the S1 DVD release is still on for a fall release. I'm thinking this baby is shelved for life unless you live in an area with a really good indie station that will show it once in a blue moon.
I'm so tired of seeing pure garbage on DVD get released. I mean really, who would spend their hard-earned money on something brain-dead like the Rambo cartoon series, those stupid reality shows, and God knows what other junk?
I can't believe that a show that lasted for nearly 10 years has dropped off the face of the earth almost. Okay, some of the last seasons were "blah", but I'd take them over the endless repeats of the same few tired -out stale dreck on TV Land.
You can't voice your concern on the programming suggestion board on TV Land because it is run over by religious trolls who want to live in the year 1648, and want nothing made after 1954 aired.
Ok, I'm finished! :D
Mr. Television 06-08-2005, 05:06 PM I guess we can only wait and hope it comes on eventually.
NancyEiE 06-08-2005, 05:22 PM I don't know when but they'll show it again, hopefully during our lifetimes.
Brian Damage 06-09-2005, 11:15 AM I think it is a disgrace that One Day is not on the airwaves, What's Happening and Good Times are great shows, but they do have dvd releases. Sure not everyone buys dvd's, but at least there is the option to buy them. There are no options with One Day. TVland baffles me.
TVFactFan 06-09-2005, 12:05 PM Well I only have 5 eps of One day at a Time so I guess I should be thankful i atleast got a chance to see what the show was like.
seventies_sitcoms 06-09-2005, 06:18 PM Once again a big corporate Viacom channel decides what the public wants.
At least I have the reunion show. When I watched it , that was the first time I saw anything of One Day when it signed off in 1984. I guess I have clips which is better than nothing.

I have a new Goal. To find all the CBS episodes of OneDay at a Time before the show is released on DVD-lol
seventies_sitcoms 06-09-2005, 06:39 PM I have a new Goal. To find all the CBS episodes of OneDay at a Time before the show is released on DVD-lol
I'm sure you will complete that goal instead of waiting for Sony to release it.

Well I have 5 eps from CBS and will be getting another CBS ep next week so that will give me a total of 6. So I will only have to get the other 247 eps from CBS and my goal will be reached. If I achieve that goal I will change my name again to Mr. Retro-lol
James"Thunder"Early 06-09-2005, 06:57 PM Let's not forget, there are 3 shows left that haven't been revealed. So let's just be patient and see what happens.

That is what I thought. I asked if anybody else knew for sure if there were more plans for new shows. Somehow I can't imagine today's TV audience getting into One Day At A Time, but who knows??

I wish Pav or someone with some knowledge on the situation will be upfront about what's going on. I really had high hopes that One Day would make the cut. When I heard it was What's Happenin, it felt like a kick to the chin. I love WH, but I have 2 seasons on DVD and will get the third when it is released later this year.

I like that name better than your current one.

Pavan 06-09-2005, 11:09 PM I can't say anymore than what I have really. I'm not part of TV Land and can be in big trouble if I spill anything that shouldn't be announced. We have had problems with them in the past. With that said, I've given little hints here and there. If you want a hint on the 4th new sitcom, check the Little House on the Prairie board, I gave a little hint on the 4th new sitcom there.
As Dr. Phillips said, there are 3 more sitcoms coming in 2006, so far. So just be patient until then. As for the DVD of this show, One Day at a Time will be coming to DVD later in 2005, at least that is what I last heard - will keep everyone posted on it.

I can;t get too excited about something airing on TV LAND in 2006 because we still have 6 months to go in 2005. Also if ODAAT was to air on TV LAND in 2006 it could be in the Fall-LOL So I try not to think that far ahead
TeeVeeCloset 06-10-2005, 01:15 PM As somewhat of a TV insider myself, Pav you have always had my highest respect and will continue to do so......but I'm thinking just maybe one of the remaining TV land sitcoms still could be One Day At A Time....because if it wasn't, would it be soooo bad to just say publically on a board something like this....."I really wouldn't hold my breath waiting for One Day at a time on TV Land"...or "i Don't think that show would fit with their current plans, but it is only my opinion" you certainly CAN'T get in trouble with a harmless statement like that....you are not confirming anything which makes fans still have hope...and if there is no hope lets get it over with already........also I still feel there is hope because the series will probably start to be released on DVD in the fall, on a nice rapid release schedule we should be up to season 3 by FALL 2006 which would be exactly when TV Land could start running the series...Its always feast or famon....Some TV Execs feel people only buy or watch shows if both available on DVD & Cable airwaves....The airings help sales and the sales help find viewers..... They make a big announcement regarding What Happening coming to TV Land just as the last season is announced for DVD! How silly!!!! I could care less about What's Happening or Good Times on TV Land after having them on DVD...Anyway lets have some real announcement...yay or nay......We waited for months for this lousy Whats Happening announcement now we have another wait...couldn't the original post months ago just have said "I don't think it will be next year, perhaps next year? Then we wouldn't have been so let down by GOOD TIMES, NIGHT COURT, & WHAT'S HAPPENING...........If a statement is vague, then no one will be harmed and come on lets face it...it's only info about a 30 year old TV show not anything to do with national security....TV Land can only benefit from people talking things up.......
Brian Damage 06-10-2005, 11:17 PM :yeahthat
TeeVeeCloset 06-16-2005, 04:47 PM I love how this somewhat active threat now has died after I posted a very logical rant about knowing whether "One Day At A Time" is really coming or not to TV Land......one more possible hint it is.......I just rewatched THE 2005 TV Land Awards...and if you remember Glen Scarpelli was one of the trophy people leading guests on and off stage...also One Day at A Time was nominated in the singing sibling category..considering What's Happening also had some noms, is it logical to think they sometimes nominate shows that are coming to the network?.....anyway I directed some thoughts to you Pav and would like to hear some comments??? please read post 2 above.....
Brian Damage 06-16-2005, 10:59 PM For some reason, I still believe that it will come to TVLand.
Mr. Television 06-16-2005, 11:05 PM All In The Family, Sanford And Son, Maude, The Jeffersons Mary Hartman, and soon Good Times have all been on TV Land. ODAAT is the only Norman Lear hit show not to be on that network. Hopefully it will be coming soon.
seventies_sitcoms 06-17-2005, 10:25 AM It just seems like everybody is taking their sweet old time with One Day. Every TV show under the sun gets a DVD release, and TV Land is picking up shows that are nearly completed on DVD. Sony announced last September that One Day was "coming soon." I didn't know they meant a year later.
