The Maintenance man coming in the apt whenever he wanted with two teenage daughters walking around the house. A little on the odd side

I agree, but it did make for some good laughs.

Yea but I think Ann considered Schneider family.

such a concept wouldn't go over as well today.

No, you'd have all these "concerned parent" and "religious" groups today complainiing about ODAAT if it were on today. Already you have people on the TV Land boards saying they don't want such a "shallow" show on there if they were to ever pick it up. What would they say in this age with Valerie Bertinelli and that Putch guy in bed together with the blanket going between them as a wall?

I personally think if One Day At A Time was playing today I don't think Schneider would had barged in like that with teenage girls in the house alone. Given the times we are living in and having to be careful when dealing with minors I don't think Norman Lear would had sent out a mixed message.

You have to remember Ann Romano was sexually active as well. In the episodes that she was in romantic relations she slept with many of them. If you remember the first episode that she met Sam Royer they spent the night together. That episode was #168, Lovers & Other Parents.

You're right mstewart... in spite of all the sex and innuendo shown in sitcoms today, it's unlikely that schneider would be put in compromising situations with ann's daughters... that is where today's audiences would (hopefully) draw the line...

i'm sure that schneider WOULD probably go after ann if the show were re-done today...
