They're trying to get mass numbers of people to jump, for the purpose of changing the Earth's orbit. Kind of like a certain speculation about the future of the Malloyverse, isn't it?

Let's just hope the Chinese never do decide that a good way to strike a blow to us would be if they all jumped up out of their chairs at the same time. We might get flooded very badly if we don't know how to deal with that threat! ;)
