It sort of makes me laugh. Whenever its discovered these days, you'd think poor Alice was taking methanphetamine or something!! :lol:

You've got to remember that this was around 1971 when approx. 70% of the adult population smoked cigarettes!! Nobody even thought twice about it then.

It's only in the last 20 yrs or so that its been considered so bad. And I am glad at the reaction though - now that we know how bad smoking is for you.

Got a good chuckle out of the picture of Alice lying in bed with curlers after a long day!! :lol:

I think Alice smoking in bed was extremely irresponsible. What if she had accidentally burned the house down?

It sounds to me like Alice should have been forced to join Mrs. Johnson's no-smoking committee.

I saw that when watching the DVD but my mind rejected it. Usually I go back and zoom in on something incongruos like that, not sure why I let this one slip by, except that I might have assumed that some crew member was smoking on the set while the cast was on a break.

With all the editing they do on DVDs these days, I'm surprised that didn't "air brush" that out. They took out the smoking and drinking in Thunderbirds and in ET they turned the guns held by the police into Walkie Talkies (which looks just as ludricous as it sounds!).

Bugs Bunny has been heavily censored too. Now the roman in the colliseum says they are out of "victums" instead of "christians" and when Bugs Bunny gives a concert and the guy starts coughing he holds up a sign saying "throw the bum out" instead of pulling out a revolver and shooting him.

Someone has too much time on their hands! :lol:
