Does anyone here remember what the day was like the day AFTER "Abyssinia, Henry" aired? Was that the big talk? "Can you believe it, Henry died at the end!" I'm just trying to picture what it was like. And just to be sure, Wayne Rogers hadn't left the show until after the episode aired, am I correct?

you're correct about Wayne Rogers. He didn't say he was leaving until the summer-that's why Trapper never had a finale. As for your first question, I don't remember anyone talking about "Abbysynia Henry" the day after it aired, but I DO remember seeing jokes made on some variety shows and things about, say, finding Henry Blake marrooned on an island, or something.

Like, I remember seeing an episode of "Cher"-a variety show that was hosted by Cher   (wonder how long it took them to come up with that title!   and McLean Stevenson was a guest on one episode, when she introduced him, the curtain opened and he was sitting in a life raft in his "Col. Blake" outfit-the fishing hat, etc...waving to the camera and shouting, "Hey everyone! I'm OK!"

and I remember seeing a cartoon in the newspaper, where some guy was making a speech about something, and saying "...and I will not fullfill any of my promises until they put Col. Blake back on MASH!"

That's great! Something like that would make a great bonus feature for the DVDs, if only FOX would do bonus features for M*A*S*H.

I've always found McLean Stevenson very talented and funny. I wish he would have had a better career after "M*A*S*H". If they didn't kill him off the show, and he was willing to do it, they could have had a Henry Blake spin-off. Or he could have been in "AfterMash."

Arguably Welcome to Korea part one was Trap's finale. The character was referred to as still being in Korea when Hawk was driving down to catch him before he left. But the ep was just not Wayne Rogers's finale.

it didn't originally air as two parts; it was originally a one-hour episode.

yea, an anonymous person found that on a DVD and it was posted on the mashh4077tv.comwebsite. For years there were rumors that it excised but no one could ever find it.
