I like the Jefferson's theme! As Brian says, it's become a classic. I remember singing it in the moving van when we moved from an apartment to our house in the country - it seemed so appropriate!!

And I know we've talked about this before, but I like the Fresh Prince theme too!

It's the Fact Of Life theme that makes my skin crawl!! I go around screaming it in this hidious voice whenever it comes on - cracks my husband up.

Here is the exact quote from the TV Guide Critic in 1975

"The Jeffersons have, you see, moved up in the world. In the words of an awful song at the start of the show, they've "moo-hoo-hooved" up to the East "side-hide-hide" to a deluxe apartment in the "sky-hi-hie" because they've finally got a "piece of the pie-hi-hie"

Here is his statement about the actual show

"Meanwhile, what we know is that this show is not good, pretty good, or even fairly good. At best it is not bad."

 Point made!!

Meanwhile, more recently, weren't critics saying "Joan of Arcadia" was the best new show bar none - that everyone should be watching this...yada...yada and now it's been cancelled. It's all just personal tastes. Laverne & Shirley - huge hit!! Can barely stomach it!

His name was Cleveland Amory and he was a Critic for Tv Guide from 1963-1977. He passed in 1998

Just listen to it. It's an instantly catchy, hand-clapping gospel flavored theme. The type that becomes memorable after hearing it just one time.

Solomon, you are crazy! The Jeffersons had a funk, gospel rhythm to it.

Is there any kind of music you like besides Judy Cohen's terrible voice?

I don't recall TV GUIDE panning the theme song, but I hadn't begun watching
the show yet (it was on several seasons before I saw it). But I think that the
song fits the show perfectly.
