I've just watched the DVD of that excellent film "The Notebook", and as I watched it I couldn't help thinking that the young couple in that film were SO much like Joe and Helen!
(Don't read any further if you haven't seen the film and don't want to see the "spoilers").....
The "Notebook" couple would fight like cats and dogs (she was a feisty little thing!), but they also had this love and passion that just couldn't be stopped.
The couple split up and were separated for a long stretch....and the girl eventually became involved with a wealthy young man (sort of like Helen and Davis Lynch).
Although the girl was engaged to the wealthy man, her old boyfriend convinced her that they belonged together.
The "Notebook" couple had a LOT of the same kind of chemistry that Joe and Helen had on "Wings".
Yes, this film reminded me of the true (but sometimes difficult) love that Joe and Helen shared!
