Guys,

For me, the choice is clear, The Breakfast Club. This is because of how the characters were able to totally come together and eventually open up about their personal backgrounds, despite belong to such different social cliques.

This film represented not only a coming together of diverse backgrounds, norms, and social values, but the chemestry between the characters was so powerful, and enriching that you felt that at times you were watching a documentary, and in some cases, you felt as if you were right there with the characters. In particular John Bender as the angry rebel, gave a brilliant performance. Present and futire generations of high school and college kids can REALLY take something from this film. But I think that in order to really care about it, you have to fall in with the under 40 crowd. People older than that may not understand its message or really care about the characters in the same way that younger generations would.

I agree with The Breakfast Club. I also think that Fast Times at Ridgemont High is pretty accurate. I also really like Hetahers. I haven't nor plan to see Mean Girls, but from what I've heard about it, it sounds like it is just a rip-off of Heathers.

Yea,

Fast Times... is very good! But you know, I have never seen the uncut R-rated version, just the versions that play on TBS/TNT. There are some added scenes for TV in that movie to make up for the language that is dubbed and nudity that is taken out. I have almost all of the premium movie channels on cable, and I wish I could see the theatrical version.

Sean Penn was great as the stoned sufer party animal! The History teacher, Mr. Hand, was great too!

I agree with what was said about The Breakfast Club....although filmed in the 80's, the stereotypes of typical high schoolers can cross many generations. I love that movie....will always be a classic to me :D

Actually, I was quite surprised at how good Mean Girls was. I was against seeing it as well, but my friends dragged me(we're all college aged, by the way) and I found it very funny and sentimental. It really shows how we tend to judge people and how high school is very clique-ish. It certainly wasn't the crappy, fluff movie I thought it would be.

Breakfast Club. Also in my school, Clueless. We always had our cell phones out in the hallways talking to each other.

But in a way, I didn't like it because it reminded me of how my old school was. There were girls just like the Plastics and we were only in 5th grade! I became homeschool because that was the only school in that town and we weren't planning on moving to a different town and I just couldn't take them anymore. But just like they did in the movie, we would all do pranks like that on them just to get back at each other. ;)

Hehe, I'm glad you got back at them :) Some people are truly mean. It's sad that there really ARE people like that in real life :(

Although the movie Dazed and Confused was set in the 70's, I say it's pretty realistic as to how high school kids act.

Being a high school student between the years 1964-1968 There was never any realistic portrayal at the time. But there were plenty of films made later that I can identify with. In which there were mean girls, cliques, drugs, etc. What goes around comes around....................

"Welcome To The Dollhouse" reminds me very much about Junior High. The worst years of my life! :( Things haven't changed much in 40 years believe me!

Over the Edge (beyond the full scale rebellion at the end)
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Sixteen Candles
Heaven Help Us (in the '60s and Catholic boy's school)
Dazed and Confused
Say Anything (well they were just graduating, but that party scene is perfect)
Heathers (minus the murders)
The Breakfast Club (a little overdramatic, but still a good reflection)

Thirteen- I've known lots of girls just like Evie & Tracey

Welcome to the Dollhouse- We've all known girls like poor Dawn. Girls that just keep getting picked on and don't seem to get a break in life.

Mean Girls did have some realism to it, like how The Plastics would talk about each other. I thought it was an OK movie. It got cliche when it tried to be dramatic though...

I saw The Breakfast Club a few years ago (on TV but I'll probably see it again unedited) and while I thought it was alright I dunno if I'd say it's realistic. I cannot see kids from different cliques at my school opening up to each other. They'd just be miserable and sleep the detention away until it was over. Well I dunno...anything can happen.

I've never seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High but I want to and also Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I'd have to agree with those of you that said Mean Girls, The Breakfast club and never been kissed. Never Been Kissed is probably the best one to reflect back on as your older. I think my favorite that I always could relate to has been Can't Hardly Wait because its based all on one final graduation party taking place in one night (for the most part) about people reconnecting before they leave.
