Well, I got half an answer.
If BP is going to make a point of stating he has a huge scar from major sugery he should expect people to wonder what it was from.
There's a host of reasons people have a kidney removed.
Least we know he's healthy.

Anyhoo, I'm off to develope my own theory of it's removal....... :happyface
