I came across some intresting information about Aunt Ethel on tvtome.com. You guys may have already knew this but "Beah played the pre-cursor to Aunt Esther in Sanford and Son, a character named Aunt Ethel who was his late wife Elizabeth's sister. "
"Aunt Ethel was suppose to have been a recurring character, a foil for Fred but it was decided that she was too sweet to be a match for the abrasive Fred. The character was later rewritten as Aunt Esther. "
They were right... Fred would have ripped Aunt Ethel apart. I don't think she could have done as good as Esther!
What do you guys think?

I didn't think Aunt Ethel was sweet. In episode "The light housekeeper" she was as mouthy as Esther. They should have brought Ethel back for occassional appearences. I wanted to see her and Esther in the same scene.

I was thinking that Aunt Hazel would have been good in more episodes than "Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Bride". I loved how her and Fred got into it when she found out that he was already using her wedding gift. "Aunt Hazel, you mean witch Hazel!"
She did appear once more in another episode as a shopper. :talk:

Fred: "Ethel, if I wasn't a cripple, I'd give you one across the lips."
Ethel: "If you weren't a cripple, I'd *make* you one!"
