Who was the maid in the early episodes...before Florence? What actress played the part and what was her name on the show? Please reply to pcc@home.com

Florence was the first maid that the Jefferson's had. The only other one was the one that played the maid in the two or three episodes that took her place. That was because Marla Gibbs got her own spin-off but it did not last, so she returned. I can not remember the other actress name but she was spanish and I think the same woman that played the maid on the tv show Dallas.

Florence didnt live with the Jeffersons in the first season and appeared only occasionly as a small part in the seris.
In 1976 Florence moves in with the Jeffersons with Georges objection.Louise hires her as a full time maid because she lost her own apartment. At this point, she became a popular part of the show.

Roseanna Christiansen portrayed Carmen, a maid who took Florence's position while Marla Gibbs was in the spinoff Checking In. The show didn't last so she came back to the Jeffersons. Roseanna Christiansen also played the maid on Dallas, Teresa from 1979-1991.

I think that you were probably thinking about the maid that we met in the very first episode named Diane, played by Pauline Myers. She and Louise were good friends until she found out that Louise was not a maid. All Louise wanted was to be friends with the maids, and George kept saying to her that she is rich now and wants her to enjoy teh affluence. So George hired Florence even though Louise didn't want her around at first. Then Diane came back and found out that Florence was the new maid, so she ends up being the Willises' maid and is never seen on the show again (Very peculiar!)

Paulene Myers Played Maid "Diane Stockwell" on the first episode as the Willis's maid but never actually worked for the Jefferson. Tamu Blackwell played "Betty" in the Ep. Florence Meets Mr. Right but she only worked for the Jeffersons on that Ep.
Diane Webster played "Mrs. Prudhome" as Georg's maid on 2 Ep. while Florence was on Check-in.
Roseanna Christiansen played "Carmen Cepeda" the entire time Florence was on Check-in.
That may not be the correct speeling of Roseanna Christiansen's last name.
