I'm now saving up to finally buy myself a digital camera. I want to spend at least around $150 to $200 because I want to make sure to get a good one!
What kinds do you recommend or what brands are the best? I'm not a professional photographer or anything, so it would all be for fun, but I still don't want one that will give me lots of problems.

I love my Canon Powershot 400 I got a couple of Christmases ago. It was new on the market then so it was fairly pricey (around $600 Cdn.) but I'll bet you can get something similar for about half that. Loads of memory and battery life - can take 3 min. videos, auto and manual modes. A nice little camera for the money!

I'm actually looking into getting the Canon Powershot A510 because it looks pretty good. Or the A520. The price is about $199.99, so it's not that expensive.

Good thing you're staying the hell away from HP cameras. I've had baaaaaaaaaad experiences with them. I don't own one and never have, but I have used other peoples' HP cameras and they SUCKED! The winner was my brother's camera- I think he got it for Xmas in 2002. It never took good pics- it would literally screw up every picture...Like half the pic would be inverted in color and the other half would be out of place.
If you decide not to get the Canon, I recommend the Nikon CoolPix models or the FujiFilm E### models (I think that was it). I have heard Olympus is a wonderful brand to try as well, but they may be a little pricey.
You'll probably end up getting the Powershot, but I just wanted to put in my 2¢. Good luck! :D

I've got a Kodak one that I got for Christmas. My sister says the quality sucks, but she's 14 and doesn't know anything. It's easy, point and shoot.

Don't get a Sony Cybershot, whatever you do.
I'd say either a Canon or a Nikon.

My grandpa got a Kodak Easyshare like last year or 2 years ago, but it's not the $500 one. I've taken a few pictures with it and it's nice, but the only thing is the zoom is not all that great it. If the zoom was better I would probably get that one.
But now I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Canon Powershot A510 or A520. :)
