I saw it today I definantly agree that it would make a great final episode. I saw it for the first time and i was like :eek: ahh Bellows knows!! and then i realized Tony wouldn't have to resign his commision ((dont wanna spoil it)) :)

This was actually the final episode of the series that was made (but not aired). At the time, the cast had a feeling--but did not know for certain--that the show would be cancelled.

it was meant to be the final episode, but NBC (the network that aired it) preempted it a lot during the 5th season, and they ended up making a 6th season and showing another episode-"My Master, the Chili King"- as the last one. "My Master, The Chili King" is the one where Jeannie puts Tonys picture on cans of chili.

that chilli king episode just seemed like a regular episode .the hurricane one was a much better ending .any ideas about a dvd release for jeannie??

Dave, there are bootleg DVD's out there for IDOJ, but I've heard various things about the quality. Sony hasn't announced anything on the DVD's.

Chili King was aired in September of 1970 but not as a 6th season. Actually, there was some preempting during the Apollo 13 crisis (making that clip of IDOJ in the movie Apollo 13 a little bit wrong), which put things out of order. Hurricane Jeannie WAS supposed to be the final episode, and there were two endings taped for it. One showing that Dr Bellows DID find out about Jeannie (if they knew for sure on viewing that they'd be canceled) and the show that you see today (if they didn't know yet, or knew they'd be making a 6th season with a married djinn).

...sometime within the next two years, when the fifth (and final) season is finally available on DVD. You'll have to wait until then, 'dave'.

I agree- "Hurricane Jeannie" was a good episode. Too bad it WAS the last one filmed. I think everyone knew this was "it"...the end of five turbulent and rewarding years. Dr. Bellows' farewell to Jeannie & Tony was very touching....
too bad it was only a dream. {Or WAS it?? Did Jeannie "change" time so that...? Nah.....}

If you notice right before Tony "wakes up", Jeannie enters their bedroom with an odd look on her face, like she is up to something. Perhaps she did change the events of the night as opposed to it being a dream.

...Roger suddenly emerges from outside, dripping wet and "sleepwalking" at the very end of the episode, tells me there was a sequence that MIGHT have been deleted before the episode originally aired, where Jeannie grants Roger's request to be "blinked" to Miami- notice when he wanders through the house, he mumbles something about being blinked to Miami? Why would he mention that...unless Jeannie "undid" everything in having Dr. Bellows discovering the truth about her? Roger disappeared rather abruptly during the "confession" and "stereopticon" sequences.....I have a feeling the final episode was somewhat hastily "fitted" together, 'Joeytrom'.

And then there was the fact that, as Roger starts bumping into the furniture before the fade-out, Jeannie shouts, "Not my bottle!!!!" That could mean she didn't want it "broken again"......?
