... if the roles of sam and diane had went to canditates fred dreyer (Dave) and julia- louis dreyfuss of seinfeld fame? im glad they chose ted and shelley. although fred and julia are great and i love them both, the chemistry... ted and shelley had it downpat. whats your take on this?

I thought it was Julia Duffy who was gunna get the part. And yeah it would be different, maybe not dramatically different though.

Its weird. I like the Diane character more than the Sam character.... but I think Julia Duffy could have done a good Diane, while anyone other than Ted would have made a terrible Sam, especially Fred Dryer.

No, I couldn't picture either of them being on Cheers. Besides, Fred was on Hunter for most of Cheers's run. I can't picture Fred being Sam...heh.

Fred would've made a horrible Sam, Julia Duffy might have made an adequate Diane. She did play a similar role on Newhart.

I got that T-shirt at Hot Topic in early 2004...Apparently they discontinued it. I can't find it anywhere, but anyway I thought it was pretty cool how you chose it as your avatar. :D
