i am italian and portuguese descent but i honestly don't look like either . i look like my mom's side (portuguese) as apposed to my dad's (italian) but i don't look portuguese. i have really pale skin, large almond shaped eyes (or football shaped as my mom says :p ), and medium brown hair, all traits from my mom's side. nobody on my mom's side really looks portuguese but my dad truly does look mediterranean in all ways. i probably look more french than italian or portuguese. but there are also many looks to every nationality, not just the typical look you normally expect.

i wouldn't say italians have big noses, my mom has the bigger nose in my family. i got the better combination, the shape of my mom's nose but the size of my dad's.

you usually think of italians (and other mediterranean types, too) to have straight noses and full lips but i am mostly of latin descent but i don't have either.

i usually think of strawberry blondes and freckles as irish traits but that's judging by my friends, who are irish. what i've found weird in my family is how nobody on my mom's side looks portugese. and also how a lot of the facial features i inherited are actually the recessive, less dominant genes. like my dad has full lips, straight nose, dark italian eyes, olive skin, and curly dark hair. he does look very italian. my mom has large, copper colored almond eyes, pale skin, medium brown stick straight hair, upturned nose, and thin lips. i basically have all the (less dominant) traits of my mom's side. my brother has that side's coloring (plus the mouth) but he facially looks more like my dad (face shape, hair texture, eyebrows). weird how genetics work, huh? :p

The Irish are very similar to the Scots. Funny thing is, they seem to hate each other but I think there's been tons of "cross-breeding" over the centuries and neither side likes to admit it. We have some Irish blood in our family too, but my mom always said, when I cut myself, I hope it's the Irish blood I'm bleeding. Stupid! And yeah, genetics can really work oddly!

Once I hit my 30s, my face filled out and rounded a bit more and I took on more of my dad's features (thankfully not his baldness)!! Did you know baldness runs from the MOTHER'S side of the family - not the father's? If your dad is bald, don't freak - look at the males on your mother's side to see if you might get thin or not.

what i actually find a coincidence is when in a family, you strongly resemble someone but you really don't have many of their features. my aunt has blue eyes, a straight nose, light brown hair, and really pale skin, and people swear she looks exactly like her mom (who has brown hair, dark brown eyes, an upturned nose like me, and more olive skin). the only features they really share are the mouth, shape of the face, eyebrows, and build.

Yeah, if you can get any it would be great! I hear ya on the nose, I've always hated mine (its got a bump). The nose gives us character though! Like Jessica Simpson - absolutely beautiful girl, hasn't a perfect nose, and I wouldn't want to see her with one - that bump gives her character and makes her face more interesting to me. Same with Tom Cruise. Perfection is boring!

While we're on the subject of noses, I have a deviated septum, which makes my nose crooked. It's got a slight slant to it :lol:
