Offhand I can't think of any case where a regular's only scene(s) in an episode of a show were cut out of the syndicated version. Maybe Cosby Show, Different World or Happy Days did this? Isn't there some sort of rule that a regular's scenes can't be cut out like that?

I never heard of such a rule, if there is one.

Maybe those "telephone scenes" with Suzanne Somers on Three's Company about 1981 or so, just before she left permanently, which I've never seen on TV Land. (I'm too young to remember if they did that on local station syndication.)
...Or wasn't that what you had in mind?

Oh I remember those. Makes you wonder if they didn't cut the tag scenes out just to spite Suzanne Somers.

i taped all the happy days episodes originally when they aired on tbs in the late 80's then when nick at night aired them again.both stations cut the shows the way they wanted to .at one point i wrote some of these networks they told me that once a station is licenced to air a show they can cut and show it any way they please.tv land usually shows the happy days series the sameway sister station nick at night did.but not always .they all suck a show should be shown its original way not the way some network excutives feel like!

Unfortunately, they can't show reruns in their original length, because they have to fit in commercials, which help pay for the shows. And, since the prices keep going up, networks (TBS, N@N, TV LAND, etc.) have no choice but show more commercials. And, to make room for them, sadly, the only thing they can do is cut out portions of the show.

The only Phone Scene that was cut in syndication was the Phone convo between Chrissy and Jack

On N@N the tag scenes aired but in regular syndication they were all cut out.
Antenna TV cuts out Barbara from 2 episodes of One Day At A Time (both episodes she’s only in one scene). I have seen them in other syndication prints, like on LOGO, which I think instead cuts out other parts.

You need to boycott Antenna! Or start a protest in front of their headquarters and demand Barbara be put back in the episodes!:wave:

I know this has been done to one Seinfeld episode (I'm sorry I don't remember which one right now, I'd have to go look it up in my Seinfeld episode guide and I don't have it handy at the moment LOL). Anyways, in Seinfeld's original run, there was one episode they were going to broadcast that ran "long" something like 40 minutes instead of 30 and NBC was actually promoting the fact like it was a really big deal. And then later when the sitcom went into syndication, they had to cut this episode down to the usual 30 minutes. If I remember they cut out a conversation or two between Jerry and George (Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander).
