Why don't they show the Daytime Emmy Awards in the daytime when people who watch daytime shows would watch?
Just wondering about that. ;)

View Full Version : Question about the Daytime Emmys Sterling Holobyte 05-19-2005, 05:52 PM Why don't they show the Daytime Emmy Awards in the daytime when people who watch daytime shows would watch? Just wondering about that. ;) JT 05-19-2005, 07:31 PM From 1973 to 1990, they did show the Daytime Emmys during the daytime. The particular network that aired the show would preempt their normal lineups to show the festivities live. In 1991, they started airing them in primetime, in hopes that it would attract bigger audiences for the show and for the actual daytime shows themselves. If I'm not mistaken, last year's Daytime Emmys had higher ratings than last year's Primetime Emmys, so I guess it was a good idea. Sterling Holobyte 05-19-2005, 09:13 PM Ok, thanks! I guess that shows that I don't watch the Daytime Emmys very often. spunkygirl 05-20-2005, 11:02 PM Yeah what JT said plus more people are home at night to watch than are home during the day to watch. Most people tape their soaps and whatnot, and it's always fun to watch the Daytime Emmy's live instead of taped ;) Molson 05-23-2005, 01:49 AM Why did they put the evening game shows on the day time Emmy award show??? Just curious..... factsoflife 05-31-2005, 05:18 PM Why did they put the evening game shows on the day time Emmy award show??? Just curious..... It has to do with some weird quirk in the rules for the primetime emmys, i can't know exactly, but i think it has something to do with the rule that anything airing before a certin time of day is considered ineligable for the primetime emmys... i think anything before 8pm is considered daytime programming... but i'm not sure because Who Wants To Be A Milloneer with Regis used to get Daytime Emmys.... |
