Nurses

This show is about nurses at a Chicago nursing home. Dixie Carter plays the wise and devoted yet recently widowed Head Nurse Cathie Wilson, who works with her three other friends: Nurse Jackie Bruce (Delta Burke), the loud-mouthed quadruple divorcee; Nurse Denise Reilly (Annie Potts), the fiesty and spunky single mother of a rebellious teenage son; and Nurse Leslie Phelps (Jean Smart), the gullible and ditzy yet happily married mother of two. Leslie's husband, Steve Phelps (Brad Garrett) is maintenance man for the nursing home. Cathie, Denise, Jackie, and Leslie have to deal with their work lives, their home lives, and their patient's lives.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
At Floating Grace Nursing Home, former Head Nurse Woods (Cindy Williams) resigns and honors Cathie with the position of Head Nurse. Jackie, Denise, and Leslie first are jealous and hurt they weren't chosen, yet realize she's been there the longest and deserves it the most.

Ep2: Tough Luck:
Denise gets word from her ex-hubby about his new engagement and how he wants their son, Matt (Jake Thomas) to be his best man. Denise could careless about he remarring yet is anything but speechless when talking about Matt being the best man. Leslie and Steve celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary by going out to eat at a fancy restuarant-the first time they went out to a fancy restaurant in the past 3 years.

Ep3: Bye-Bye Bernadette:
Jackie is faced with the decision to put her belovedly wacky mom, Bernadette (Estelle Harris) into the nursing home, after Jackie learns her mom believes her deceased husband is away on business (Jackie's dad died over 15 years ago). Meanwhile, Jackie is comforted by Cathie, Leslie, and Denise-who all feel for their friend.

Ep4: The Handyman's Mistress?:
Leslie learns that a very sexually-active patient, Ruthie (Rue McCalahan) has the hots for Steve. Leslie and Cathie thinks its hilarious, as Steve is worried and feels awkward around Ruthie. Meanwhile, Jackie tries to find friends for her mother with Denise's help.

Ep5: Off To The Zoo, We Go:
Denise, Leslie, and Jackie "chaperone" a visit to the zoo for a few of the elderly patients. The problem occurs when they realize they arrived with 10 patients and left with 9 patients. After dropping off the rest, the three women head back to the zoo to find the missing patient, Alice (Estelle Getty). Alice claims she was left behind on purpose (due to the fact, she thinks that Denise has it out for her) and is refusing to not inform Cathie about their mishap at the zoo.

Ep6: Who Hates Elevator Music, We Do:
After Steve is sent home for the weekend after finishing everything that needed to be done, the elevator gets stuck with Leslie, Jackie, and a very flirtatious patient-Frank (Ed Asner). With Steve not answering his phone, Cathie and Denise attempt to get the three out, yet have to result in calling the fire department...and suffer the embarrassment. Leslie can't wait to have a word with her husband about answering his phone from now on.

Ep7: Related By A Kiss:
Denise and Leslie are thrilled to death about Denise's son, Matt (Jake Thomas) and Leslie's daughter, Emily (Jamie Lynn Spears) sharing a kiss at their school dance [that Denise, Leslie, and Steve chaperoned]. Meanwhile, Jackie and Cathie go out for lunch one afternoon to get to know each other better, after learning they don't know as much about each other as they once thought.

Ep8: Class Of 1980:
Leslie, Steve, and Jackie are invited to their 25th class reunion. Steve doesn't want to go, and Leslie and Jackie can't wait to face the former snotty head cheerleader-Beth. Leslie is asked to make a speech as she was Class Treasurer, in her speech-Jackie and her decide to finally tell off Beth one last time (for making high school hell). The girls drag Steve along to the reunion, where Leslie and Jackie are embarrassed after making her speech and learning Beth died giving birth to her seventh child last year. Jackie and Leslie are looked upon as mean and cruel throughout the whole night.

Ep9: More Money, More Problems:
Jackie gets her long-awaited inheritance from her newly-deceased, third ex-husband. Afterwards, Jackie begins to feel guilty and horrible about accepting her ex's inheritance money that she requested during their 6-year-marriage--mostly because she divorced him in hopes of getting back with her second ex (which never happened).

Ep10: Queen Maureen:
Steve's wealthy sister, Maureen (Mimi Rogers) wants to check out the nursing home, in hopes of buying the home from Cathie (who was named owner of the home after Woods resigned). Cathie is dead against selling it, as is Leslie and Steve, especially after Maureen's previous purchase flopped three weeks after she bought it.

Ep11: Surgeon, Plastic Surgeon:
Leslie and Steve's 17-year-old daughter, Riley (Kaley Cuoco) announces she wants to attend med school in the fall--which makes her parents truly happy. Yet they are less than thrilled when they learn Riley wants to become a plastic surgeon. Meanwhile, Denise meets her ex's fiancee, Brooke Bradley (Brooke Sheilds)-who happens to be the granddaughter of Mary Bradley-Denise's favorite romance novelist.
